I Want It All
I asked the Lord what I should give
For all that He had done,
And said that I would give to Him
All I could one by one.
"I want your rubies", said the Lord,
"Your brass and silver too.
I want your diamonds and your pearls,
Your money, yes I do".
I handed over every stone,
Reluctant, I confess.
And to the very meager cent
The money I possess.
"I want your treasures", said the Lord,
"All of material worth,
Your house, your land, your car, and all
You own upon the earth".
I gave to Him each earthly thing
That I could call my own,
And when I’d given all away,
I stood there all alone.
"I want your power", said the Lord,
"Each right to have control,
Each slight quest for worldly fame,
Each dream and every goal".
"And now I want your very life,
Your thoughts, your doubts, your fears.
I want your talents and your time,
Emotions and your tears".
I give to You my everything,
Each reason that I live.
You have my life, my all in all,
I’ve nothing more to give.
"You’ve struggled long", He said to me,
"The fight did take its toll.
But in the process you have given
Me your very soul".
"So, everything that I possess,
I now give back you see!
Cause all I want, is all of you
So you'll have all of Me".
