You've prayed to God so many times
For help and things you need;
To see you through this trial or that
And, that you may succeed.
You've looked expectantly in hope
Solutions to receive;
And searched the Word of God for truth
So willing to believe.
But don't despise the manna
God's gift of daily bread;
It may not seem to be so much
It's not what you have said.
You've looked for long-term answers
And much abundant store;
But what He sends seems very small
You'd hoped for so much more.
But God in His great wisdom
Knows all that you require;
He knows precisely what it takes
To see you through the fire.
He has in mind a great deal more
Than just what you perceive;
He longs to perfect all your gifts
And fruit you must receive.
His manna sees you through the day
His peace at end awaits;
When manna the next morning comes
It's wearing mercy's face.
It's light is like the morning sun
So brightly does it shine;
Your hunger it will satisfy
You'll never have to pine.
So don't despise the manna
This little lesson heed;
The God whose love does know no end
His hungry children feed.
He feeds them all sufficiently
With blessings whole and sure;
Your growth in grace, and faith and love
He's seeking to ensure.
So if the food supply today
Is just enough to last;
Remember all his promises
Upon him your cares cast.
And don't despise the manna
That comes from his great hands;
Remember it's the entranceway
Into the Promised Land.
