Faith
This is for many, a terrifying question. What would you do today if you knew that tomorrow for sure, you will die? I bet many would say, “I would enjoy every minute, love my family and enjoy my friends”, and that is okay if all you have is this life, but my question goes beyond,
What would you do today, if you knew that tomorrow you will meet your Creator?
If you are scared today thinking that everything will be destroyed tomorrow, let me assure you of this, you will still be afraid tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, and the very last day of your life!
Have you ever asked yourself where this fear comes from? It is the result of uncertainty. You are uncertain if the world really will end tomorrow, or maybe the next date predicted by the stars, or some phony preacher, or… the Mayan calendar!?? You are uncertain of how you will die and where you will go, and if there is really a God and if He will judge you. So, in order to have peace, you need certainty. Fortunately, the Bible offers us certainty and peace, let me explain it:
Because of our sins (in thought and action) we have separated from God.
God is Holy; He can’t bear sin. We are sinners; therefore, we are enemies of the Holy God.
God loves you
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, so that whoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
God sent His Son to die on a cross and pay for what you and I did
Jesus Christ came to this earth and lived a perfect, sinless life. He chose to die in your place so you could be reconciled with God the Father. He shed his blood and the Father accepted His sacrifice. “According to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission of sins.”
Because of what Jesus did, you can be forgiven
To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.”
Repent, ask forgiveness and trust in Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross
If you genuinely repent and ask forgiveness from God, trusting that Jesus already paid the penalty for your sins, God will forgive you. You don’t have to do absolutely anything else for God to forgive you, because we are spiritually saved by pure grace.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
You don’t have to be afraid of what will happen to you if you die tomorrow or the next month or whenever God wills. When you trust in Jesus and are reconciled with God you are forever saved from an eternity in hell. You have passed from death to life. The Lord will gradually change you from the inside out, so you can be conformed to His will and live a righteous, meaningful life.
Ask any true Christian you know if he is afraid to die, or if he is worried about the end of the world. You will find out that a true converted Christian is at peace about his death, because he has put his very life in the hands of the Savior.
The reality is that death is always ready to knock at your door. There is no guarantee that you or I will be here tomorrow. You don’t have to live in fear. Trust in Jesus.
