Inside a hollow heart, dark and alone
Blind, numb, blackness
No senses, no feeling, no touch
Just aching emptiness
Loneliness
A scraping sound
A match is struck, flaring
Sulfur smoke, finally a scent
Pungent, sweet stimulus
Aware now of Shadowy images
The flame touches a candle wick
Alit, it now illuming
Warmth, relief, consuming
Sight, bare walls, self awareness
I am a heart
Rusty hinges creaking
Light through the cracks is streaking
Another heart, all aglow, is coming in
Open wide, the door is thrown
He is so bright, a glorious light
Revealing
Pure throbbing love I'm feeling
Then ashamed, I look at me
Dismal, dark and sinful
Dirty, wretched, ugly me
Soft and tender, a healing touch
Embracing, covering, joyous cleansing
I see! I feel! I love!
New, new, new, I am new!
Seeing, feeling, knowing
Alive with purpose
The love He gave me showing
I am a brand new heart!
