I took a walk through town today
I couldn't help, but to reminisce
I saw no decorations in fine array
No Mistletoe, for a Christmas kiss
I didn't see any of the Wise-men
Or a Manger . . . Anywhere
It wasn't the same now, as it was then
I stopped, to brush away a tear
I was thinking on Christmas . . . Of old
And, how people were full of cheer
The snow would be falling, the days so cold
And Christmas greetings, were everywhere
Christmas Carols, by Choirs were sung
As they went from door to door . . .
Praising the the Heavenly "Birth of Jesus"
While all of the church bells, were rung
People forgot their troubles, reflecting
Being thankful, loving and kind . . .
All things of God, they were respecting
So glad that Christmas brought, peace of mind
I really searched as I walked, looking everywhere
For one small sign of the season . . . Christ's birth
I simply couldn't find much, looking here and there
No happiness, no Mangers, no love . . . No Mirth
There are those that continue to hold this day dear
And look forward, to the birthday celebration
Giving thanks for our wonderful Saviour
As, our hearts are filled with elation
And in these thoughts, that I was thinking
I felt so sad, for Christ . . . Our Lord
The way He is neglected, my heart was sinking
His hurt must be, like that from a sword
I pray that people, will again give Him praise
And put Him back, in His rightful place
His name brought forth, with hands to raise
Placing Him in their heart, to fill that empty space
So for those of you, that love "Christmas"
And glory in "Jesus" birth
Put on a smile, spread love and faith
To everyone. . . Here on Earth!
