Here's the continuing email correspondence between me and my friend David Jacobs on the lawfulness of eating meat or pork.

Dear David,

There's nothing to re-study here on the meat issue. As for the
lawfulness of eating meat, of course its lawful but as the apostle Paul said, all things are lawful but all things are not expedient. Not all things edify.

Interesting that you mention the lawfulness of eating pork. Would you advocate eating horse meat as well? I know of no American or Christian that does. Why not? What's the difference? To say that our culture looks askance at the practice of eating horse meat but not on eating pork because horses are bred for work, pets, riding or racing is no

Now pork is unclean from a nutritional point of view. Pigs were
considered unclean for a reason. There is something in the meat itself as scientists and nutritional experts have long ago discovered that is not good for the human body.

Besides triconosis and parasite infestation inspite of the high degree temperatures that pork has been subjected to the parasites were still prevalent.

I never said eating meat is forbidden. That is a doctrine of the devil that God warned would be prevalent in the last days of which we are in.

However, I believe the wises course of action in eating foods is to limit ones consumption of meat first for health reasons. There is less fat and dietary sickness in a vegetarian diet.

We need to consume more fruits and vegetables and preferably raw so as to benefit from the food enzymes. Cooking them above temperatures of 103 degrees destroys the enzymes and most of the vitamins.

Second, the consumption of meat is expensive and wasteful. Think about it. We fatten up the hogs and cows with the grain that we should be feeding on. then we slaughter these animals so that we can have their pound of flesh. It doesn't make good economical sense. It is far less expensive to just get the grains direct without going through the animals.

I've cut back on all meat. I'll eat chicken that is free of growth hormones and is lean. Thai food and chinese cuisin are my favorite these days and both are full of veggiooodes. Ummmmm......goood!

Better than Campbell's soup to be sure.

I remember Mr. Balsley my biology teacher at Delta College (remember him?) telling our class this years ago.

P. S. I hope you weren't drooling or lusting after my cousin David cause she would want to be the first to know. Do you find that picture sexy that I sent you? Kind of a seductive pose the photographers put her in don't you think? I've got to say there's nothing more beautiful than the female form when it is in top shape.

Speaking of shape how are you doing with yours? Last time I saw you you were getting a little thick around the mid-section. Another reason to cut back on the meat David. You are too young to get the middle age spread.

Rise David and eat but don't kill. Let us get back to health and
wholeness. Next time you lust for pork chops stick a knife to your throat if thou be a man given to appetite and try a cup of herbal tea instead. I'll cleanse and relax the body and mind. Then meditate on the word as you read it. This will help put you in a praying disposition.

With warm regards,

Subject: arise, kill and eat

I may say more later, but suffice it to say that except for baccon, I do not especially like pork in any form, so you certainly are unlikely to see me even looking at a pork chop.
I also have known that it has the least nutritional value of the major meats.

Reread those scriptures I cited for you last night-note the "all" in 1 Timothy 4, pork is clean, not unclean as you keep stating, for God has declared it so. The principle in Acts 10 is that God has declared what was once unclean to be clean, both in men and in food, and in contradicting God's statement of cleansing, you sound more like a pagan than a Christian with your views. The clean/unclean in the OT was ceremonial and didactic teaching Israel that in His dealings with men, God does make distinctions, and as His covenental people, Israel was to be different, and holy.

I do not think that I advocated eating pork per se, except tongue in cheek. I did emphasize in the main the lawfulness of it, and the sinfulness of declaring it unlawful. I would not advocate eating horse, dog, cat or goat under normal circumstances, but it is certainly lawful to do so. As you cite the apostle, it is a matter of expediency, not lawfulness. What God has declared to be clean, man is not to call unclean or common. (Acts 10) Again
I note, there is the fundamental lesson, which Peter learned-men are no longer unclean, and the veil of separation in the temple was torn in two to show that the way was open for all types of men, but we can not dismiss the lesser, the actual picture used to portray the greater spiritual reality., and that is God has declared all meats clean, and if you advocate not killing animals, for good or otherwise, you are far closer to the pagan mindset of today that regards the lower creatures as sacred, than the Biblical teachings.

God specifically encouraged Peter "kill and eat". If you chooose to ignore some of Gods bounty, make it clear to all that it is a personal expedient, not a moral demand. There is a very large difference.

Yes, your cousin is pretty, but she elicited no more than that assessment. I have known and do know now, women that I consider more beautiful but as was amply demonstrated by my former spouse that physical beauty is of extremely limited value. And as to my form, I have been on the high side since I was twenty or thereabouts, so it is nothing new, nor distressing.

Okay, so I did say more now, rather than later. I see you sent a copy of your email to me. Is this the individual that is recruiting you to this and probably more?
