I’ve seen a reindeer with a nose that glows.
A snowman with a corncob pipe and a button nose.
I’ve ridden in a one-horse sleigh,
As we all laughed all along the way.
I’ve seen toys they say were made by elves
Wishing they’d fly to me right off the shelves.
I’ve decked the halls with boughs of holly
And seen lots of Santas looking fat and jolly.
I’ve rocked around the Christmas tree.
Doing things I hoped my mother wouldn’t see.
Although the Grinch tried to make it blue,
A white Christmas is dreamed by me and you.
I’ve seen mommy kissing Santa Claus.
When asked why she said “just because”.
I heard grandma got run over by a reindeer.
We won’t be going to her house this year.
I’ve thrown away fruit cakes and tasted candy canes.
Seen glittering lights down every single lane.
I’ve roasted chestnuts on an open fire.
Heard angelic songs that were sung by a choir.
I’ve stood under many a mistletoe
Hoping for, well, you ought to know.
I’ve wished for snow every single year.
Only to be saddened when it didn’t appear.
I’ve heard the silver bells a ringing
And many children beautifully singing.
They told me that all was merry and bright.
For they believed Santa was coming tonight.
It is the night of our Savior’s birth.
When we pray for peace for all the Earth.
But for many it is just another silent night.
Where there is no peace and all is not bright.
While many spend Christmas with their eyes all aglow,
Others just endure feeling no peace will they know.
The Star in the sky shined bright where Jesus laid.
We should shine as bright; giving them hope; showing the way.
Many we know have suffered very long.
Suffering through many years of wrong.
A man at war with himself hears Him not.
Good tidings we bring can bring the peace he’s sought.
