You can do it, if you dare!
© 2004 by R. Kai Morris
Look at you sitting there,
Lamenting in your despair,
Shouldering all that care,
Feeling flat without a spare,
Sackcloth and ashes, you wear.
Really now, how do you dare?
Remember Jesus hanging there.
Suffocating, inhaling air,
Thickening blood matting his hair,
Loving haters that did not care,
Taking all sorrow and despair,
Claiming our sins, paying our fare.
Consider casting all your care,
Dusting off that gloom and despair,
Remembering God is always there,
Resolving to trust despite the slayer,
Sneaking out from his dark lair,
Trying to wreck, ruin, ensnare
You with his lies. No, it’s not fair!
But God still has you in His care.
And He will free you from the snare.
He’s won that battle fair and square.
Take it to Him, and leave it there.
Exchange your ashes for beauty fair.
Worship Him in song, dance, and prayer.
Leave Satan sad and in despair.
Sure, you can do it, if you dare!
