Are you obedient to your commander, do you receive orders, are you disciplined to remain at your guard post until relieved?
We are the army of the Lord, we have ranks, commissions, and chain of command. Are you submitted to an authority, are you a pastor? Have you submitted to chain of command?
We do not make up our own orders, we receive them from the Lord(the Holy Spirit). They may come from hearing His quiet still voice, or a donkey speaking to us, maybe sometimes a hunch we will receive, maybe just a knowing inside that something must change. Look at this, in the Old Testament as in the New Testament we still need to hear from Him. We need orders!
I received orders from Him in 1995 to go and preach the gospel of good news on the street of my city, I was commissioned to do so, I saw a dream in which I saw myself preaching at the seawall, at night. I went, alone, for nobody would go with me. I had results, some got saved, I got attacked by our enemy, but every time I was attacked the Lord delivered me. I had been sent to the worst places in my city, where the darkness was the greatest. He was my constant companion, I would just worship Him as I walked along, sometimes praying, sometimes singing.
My authority for being there was given by Him. One day I sat all day on a wall in downtown, surrounded by drug dealers. This was the first time I just sat, I did not know why, but I was obedient. A man came up to me in the afternoon after 5 hours of sitting there, asking me if I were an undercover police officer. I told him I was not, he did not believe me. He was very nicely dressed in a new, long leather coat. He left, believing I was a cop, for he saw my authority, for he was the "bag man" on that street, and he had many employees that could not sell their dope, because they were afraid of me busting them.
Then one day, I had orders to go home, which I did. Two weeks later I was back, on the street, to preach. I received a spoken word from the Holy Spirit that I had been told not to preach on the street anymore. I went home, and received orders to move to the country, 45 miles from my city, to live. I did so, and moved into a time of great loss, but also a time to learn new things and like St Paul after he being commissioned to be an apostle, went to the desert for 17 years to be taught of the Lord. So the Lord is teaching me in the same way.
Do you really follow Him? Do you obey His orders, even when you do not like them? Are you greater than HIM? What does HE really want from us? We can not walk in authority until we become disciplined, and obedient.

Hi Curt,
Thanks for sharing. I will be praying for as you continue to trust and obey. I admire your courage and faith and know that God will honor you because you honor Him. God has called me to be His ready writer (Psalm 45:1), but I have not always been as ready to serve as I ought. I would appreciate your prayers too. Your article reminds us that we have enlisted in God's army, and part of the deal is to be ready and willing to obey orders on short notice. As you have discovered, it can be both scarey and at the same time joyous.
