Have you ever sat down to a meal without salt ? Did that meal have flavor and taste good ? What does salt have to do with my Christian walk, you may ask ? According to ( Matthew 5:13 ), if we lose our spiritual salt, we are no good for anything. In other words, if we are not attracting the lost but rather repelling them, then our salt has lost its savor. And we have lost a precious "blessing" from our Father, God. ( Proverbs 11:30 )
But I am so timed, you might say, and it's very hard for me to start a conversation. Especially, about spiritual venues. So, how do I go about witnessing ? ( 1 Peter 3:15 ) Simply put, just be yourself. Just be a good witness for Christ.( Romans 10:9 ) Just give God a chance to open the door for you and He will. ( 1 Peter 3:11-12,16) In other words, whether you know it or not, you are the only Bible some people will ever read, so don't disappoint them. ( Daniel 12:3 )
Do you like to eat ? What meals do you desire most ? Is it that grease laden fried chicken, that jumble cheese burger, or that wholesome carrot salad ? In parallel, as a believer, you must have a genuine healthy hunger to see others truly saved, so that they may escape an eternal "anguish". ( Romans 10:15 )
Conversely, do you ever feel discouraged when you fail to see instant results, in your labor for Christ ? ( 1 Thess 2:19-20 ) Well, I've been there and done that. Just remember, God did not promise you would see the results of your labor in this life time. ( Hebrews 3:15-17) We may never know, this side of "glory land", as too how successful we may have been.
However, He did command us to be witnesses to His saving grace. ( Matthew 28:19 )
If your neighbor's house was on fire and he was in danger, wouldn't you tell him? Parallel this scenario to an individual's eternal destiny. For you see, many of our family members, our neighbors, or our co-workers, are now headed for eternal destruction unless someone shares the hope of Christ with them.( 1 Peter 3:15)
Here are some good scriptures to help you in your witnessing. It would do well to mark them in your Bible.
Rom. 3:23. Man's Need.
Rom. 6:23. Sin's Penalty.
Rom. 5:8. God's Provision.
Rom. 10:9,10. Man's Response.
Rom. 10:13, God's Response.
You see, all mankind needs to realize they are lost, before they can get saved. It's just Satan's characteristic nature, by his uncanny philosophy, to keep the unbeliever blinded to the principles of God's salvation. This scheme started with our very first parents ( Genesis 3: 1-7) and will continue until Satan is bound forever.( Revelation 20:10 )
However, we not only have God's inspired word, but we have the convicting power of His Holy Spirit. ( 2 Cor 3:18 ) So, we cannot go wrong, by making His word known.( Romans 1:16-17 )
Remember, there's not a more positive means than a personal witness, be it in a court of law, or be it by holy personal living.( 1 John 1:1-3 ) I can't stress enough that witnessing for Christ is simply telling others what Christ has done for you.( Philippians 2:15) Just giving first-hand knowledge of your acceptance of God's free grace, based solely on your faith in Christ's redeeming death on the cross. ( Psalm 89:15)
However, please be prepared to experience setbacks, when witnessing to the unbelievers.( 1 Cor 1:18 ) Because these disappointments will come.( John 17:18 ) However, God is still on the throne. All we can do, is do our part to spread the gospel. And pray, pray, pray. Just pass the salt, the spiritual salt that is.( Proverbs 24:11 )
Here's some more good scriptures to support your witness: ( 2 Cor 5:20 ) ( Acts 26:17-18 ) ( Isaiah 6:8 ) ( Luke 18:29-30 ) ( Luke 9:61-62 ) ( Matthew 10:27 )
