Those of you who have Pillsbury or Betty Crocker as your middle name make people like me very happy. I hate to cook, but I do get my fill, and more to spare of holiday deserts. There is something special about Christmas cakes, cookies, pies and candies. The smell of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves or ginger is nearly irresistible.
You have power to yield over the gingerbread man. You hold his personality and Christmas spirit, or lack of it in your hand. Will you paint a great big smile on his kisser? Will you refrain and decide to make him with a smile turned upside down? The adorable man is at your mercy. What do you say?
“And so, he will make you happy and give you something to smile about (Job 8:21 CEV).” We serve a merciful God who replaces sorrow with joy, transforms a cantankerous spirit with kindness and generosity. May you have a very Merry Christmas, and may all your gingerbread men wear smiles in celebration of our Savior.
