In Adam l was counted in the number.
All missed it and sin-nature overpowers;
The Law could not guarantee obedience,
Christ’s Grace enforced the Father’s Love.
Our inherited tendency now removed,
The Holy Spirit helps my weakness;
Yet temptations and trials must come.
The tempter must carry out his mission.
Really our father allows it to take us higher;
Not for the devil to captivate and destroy.
Jesus overcame the guile of the tempter,
And defeated him on Calvary’s Cross;
His death gives life, His rising acquits.
Yet the best of men remain men at their best.
“Therefore let him who thinks he stands take
heed lest he fall”! This filthy righteousness!
So when inspiring great men do fall,
My heart momentarily skips the beat!
Who am I to claim immunity? Me?
I’ll rather hold on to perfect liberty,
My righteousness way off the mark!
Always below the standard required;
Father’s mercy and love faithfully avails.
That’s why Jesus bore it all on Himself,
Sinless punishment for eternal liberty;
“I am the righteousness of God in Christ”.
