The stain of sin can leave us feeling filthy, tainted, dirty and defiled; ashamed, toxic, contaminated, self-loathing, spoiled and condemned, and even vile. If sin did not make us feel any or a mixture of these things, then we would really have a problem.
So take heart and understand that while battling the consequences of sin, we most certainly have reason to rejoice; because of the precious blood atonement of Jesus Christ, the Holy Lamb of God; that takes away the sins of the world. He is reason to rejoice! There is life after sin.
Begin with a penitent heart, "Confess your sins unto the Lord who is faithful and just to forgive and cleans us from all unrighteousness." Then take your mind off the sin and its consequences and particularly any condemnation. "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus."
"Forget not His daily benefits. Who forgives our iniquities." (daily) He is reason to rejoice! The Lord will not leave us in our sinful state. We are redeemed by the precious blood of the Lamb who paid in full for the remission of our sins.
Don't spend your time wallowing in condemnation and shame. That only makes matter worse and gives God's glory to the enemy. Forgive yourself and step into the light. "Unto those who fear Him shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in His wings."
Don't allow iniquity to cloak itself upon you like a dark shadow. Expose it to the light of God's forgiveness and mercy by quickly confessing it to Him with a penitent heart.
When Isaiah confessed that he was a man of unclean lips, his sin was purged and he was cleansed. Don't let your own mouth sin against you. "Its not what goes into our mouths that defile us but what comes out."
God gets no glory in our sinful state. So don't mope around like you have no Saviour. Believe in and recieve the blood atonement that purges away our iniquities so God can shine in you and His spirit can reign in your mortal body. "If the spirit of Him that raised Christ from the dead dwell in us, the same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead will also quicken our mortal body by His spirit that dwells in us."
Nurture God's spirit within you through the daily reading of His Word; that you may experience the quickening and resurrection of life from the wages of sin, which is death.
There is life after sin. Seek it through confession, repentence, prayer and worship and the reading of God's Holy Word to renew your mind to the things of God.
Pull yourself away from the world's distractions; television, computers, telephones, gadgets, games and noise. Steal away to a quiet place with Jesus to be forgiven, refreshed and restored. He is reason to rejoice!
