The will of the almighty God is the perfect will for everyone. He said; “My thoughts towards you is good and not evil, to bring you to an expected (good) end, Jeremiah 29:11”. Knowing and walking in accordance with God’s will make things easier. It makes life’s journey clearer for us. Having this knowledge, how then can we know Gods will for our lives?
There is no form of instruction about life we seek for that cannot be found in the word of God. Is it in the area of marriage, career and relationship with people, work e.t.c. There are instructions pertaining to all these in his word for us. Have you ever wanted to embark on something, and then you sit down to ponder on God’s desire about it? It may be in a particular line of business or something you are passionate about. Most of the time we don’t seek God’s will rather we do our will and when things go wrong, that’s when we remember him. But if you’re in the former position, wanting to know if what you are setting out to achieve is God’s will, the first question you should ask yourself is;
• Does this thing go in harmony with God’s word?
• Will it bring Glory to him and be of help to people around me?
• Is it for my selfish interest to help enrich myself alone?
Answering these questions sincerely will help you to know if you are on the right track or not. Sometimes we may have a word from a friend or relative and that can be an answer to a question we’ve been searching for. Following God’s will for our lives require sincerity and humility on our part. It involves being able to put our flesh (sinful nature) to death. It requires us putting our will in submission to God’s word. If we surrender our will to him and stop trying to always be in charge, he will direct us on the right path and we’ll have the result we least imagined.
