V is for victory; military veterans have made victory possible. They have secured our shores through faithful service and sacrifices. We salute present and past members of our armed forces, and offer sincere words of gratefulness. These dedicated men and women have done mighty exploits in heroic bravery.
King David humbly expressed his appreciation to three of his mighty men. Three sacrificed their lives behind battle lines to fetch him refreshing water. (2 Samuel 23:13-17) He refused to drink it. “David said, ‘LORD, I would never do such a thing! Is this not the blood of men who risked their lives (2 Samuel 23:17a HCS)?”
