God instructs us to spread his word. Many of us have the same excuse on why we donít, ďmy life is so messed up, and I canít be a Christian.Ē We donít volunteer at church, because we tell ourselves, ďIf the pastor only knew what I have done, they would never ask me to help.Ē
I have news for you; God can find the beauty and good that can come from your life through all the mess, no matter how bad it is.
In Genesis, 38 Judah who had earlier sold his brother into slavery, sinner by having two illegitimate sons with his daughter in law Tamar. God took the mess that result from this misdeed, and allowed God to come from it by allowing his only son Jesus to descend from Temarís son Perez.
In 2 Samuel 11, David slept Bathsheba who was married to Uriah. David didnít atone for his actions either, instead he sent Uriah away to war where he was killed. Bathsheba conceived a son named Solomon, who God let inherit his kingdom and blessed him with wisdom & wealth. Solomon is also the builder of the first temple of God.
In Acts 9, Saul persecuted and killed thousands of Christians. God saw through all the hate and changed Saulís heart and renamed him Paul. Paul is credited as being the apostle who did the greatest job of spreading Early Christianity and the second most influential person in Christianity next to Jesus.
My point with these three examples is that each one of them had sinned in major ways and really messed up their lives. However all three of them owned up to their mistakes and went before God. God took their messed up lives and cleansed the sin away and amazing things resulted.
I ask you to go to God and say, ĒLord, I am a sinner, I have made a mess of things. I know I was wrong, but your Grace is greater than anything I have done. Here is my messy life and I beg you to recycle it into something good.Ē
