" If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
If ever there was a time when this scripture should be foremost in our minds and on our lips... this is it! As all eyes are focused on the coming election, hoping for a solution to all that is wrong in our nation, our God would remind us that the answers will not be found in man, but in Him.
Have we not learned the lessons set before us in the Word? The children of Israel also thought that a man would be the answer to all their problems. The right man, of course, or so they thought. So God gave them a man... his name was Saul. And then, by experience, came the understanding that he wasn't quite what they had in mind. I guess the old saying "when you get what you want, you don't want it anymore" certainly applied in this case. Look around... it's being played out... daily!
If as much fervor was put into responding to 2 Chronicles 7:14 as is being put into the political campaigns and rallies; if as many were making commitments to do the will of God as are making empty campaign promises... we would see God's promises... which have the only truth you can count on... fulfilled!
So, as far as I am concerned, I feel we would be better served if we would stop giving our energies to "getting behind" our candidate... and turn them to "getting before" our God!
I have never been one who is concerned with being "politically correct." I will instead spend my time seeking God and studying His Word so that I can be "scripturally grounded." There are no solutions found outside of God or His Word. We would do well to do our part in all this... "If my people, which are called by My name..." Do you come under that heading? I do, and I will do my part!
Don't think going to the "voting booth" without going to the "prayer closet" is going to bring about any lasting change... because it will be a big disappointment... again! May God have mercy on our souls and our nation!
