Sitting and watching while my two best friends play.
Listening to the wind blow through the trees one day.
I was talking with my Father; fellowshipping with Him.
Seeing my two friends smell where others have been.
Two birds, about noon, flew right past me in a hurry.
Surely in love, they sounded out each of their worries.
For the chatter they uttered there at one another.
Filled the air with their noise and silenced all others.
They stood there determined and quite very bound.
To fill the other’s ears with their horrible sound.
They surely knew that I was watching them.
Looking for me to agree they deserve to win.
After some time had past and their noise did last.
One more bird flew past going quite very fast.
In between them he stood trying to take command.
Adding his horrible sound didn’t silence the land.
Not much affect did he have on them at all.
They continued making the noise that ended my calm.
The message was clear; even without a translator.
All I had to do, was watch this poor mediator.
He walked back and forth; neither listened to what he said.
Leaving this weary mediator only shaking his head.
It appeared to me, they didn’t respect his fine degree.
They chose to fly away continuing on a distant tree.
Again the mediator was left to just shake his weary head.
Surely grumbling to himself; why to this tree must I be led
I seemed to hear him say in a barely audible tense.
When will they learn; none of this makes any good sense.
Meanwhile, the love birds, perched on another good tree.
They were still going at it at a quarter till three.
Each continued to plead their own individual case
Making such a noise; I considered leaving this place.
I thought sure I could hear one very clearly say.
You’ve been away from home far too much these days.
Then the other seemed to come back with this to say
And where is that worm you were to bring home today.
This senseless display continued for what seemed a long time
Their horrible sound upset natures balance; especially mine.
One of the birds obviously had quite nearly enough.
For he flew away mad and in a very big huff.
I pondered the scene nature showed me that day.
It seems too many humans are exactly the same way.
Too busy screaming and pleading their own case.
While others stand watching; like the children they raise.
