Hope will give us strength, to keep on going,
To rise above the fray on eagles wings;
Hope will give us courage, to keep on walking,
To persevere, no matter what life brings;
Hope is from the Lord.
Based on Isaiah 40:31
Ever since we went through the fires (Black Saturday) back in 2009, my wife and I have had a fascination with the eagles that regularly fly over our property. Isaiah 40:31 was always a favorite scripture, but now it has special significance.
Our neighborhood has created a memorial garden on a site across the road from us - our way of expressing hope and remembering the 173 who died in the fires. An eagle on a pole is in the garden and this short poem is placed at the base for passers by to see and read. Hope you like it.
PS My article IN SEARCH OF PARADISE, is a reflection on Black Saturday, and on the ways in which we attempt to re-create a little piece of paradise to shield us from the harsh realities of life.
