The Helper, The Holy Spirit (John 14:26 & 27)

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

These words were spoken by Jesus as He prepared His disciples for His death, resurrection and ascension. Each time He spoke to them He imparted life, strength and faith, and He knew that they were now experiencing a sense of panic and dismay when they thought of His departure from their midst. He said “But the Helper…” Although they were afraid of living without Jesus and they felt unable to continue the ministry on their own, there was One coming who would help them to be all that Jesus had called them to be. Jesus promised that the Father Himself would send the Holy Spirit so that they would not be lost and alone. (“the Father will”). He said “I will not leave you orphans” (John 14:18). Hallelujah!
Today’s message is for all Daddy’s hungry kids who need to see some answers in their lives. Receive fresh manna from His hand today!

1) You may be struggling with some situation right now, “but the Helper…”! We serve the Lord of the impossible. He is omnipotent, mighty El Shaddai in whom there is no shadow of turning. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. What He decrees in His Word is already done and there is nothing too big or even too small for Him to handle. Things may seem pretty bad, but we have a Helper sent by the Father Himself! He is waiting for you to invite Him into your life and into the situation you are contending with. He is the fountain of all life. He has come to make Jesus and all the glory of Heaven real to us. In my family, we rely on the Holy Spirit, not only in “spiritual” things but even when something is lost, or we need direction, or we simply need physical strength to get through all the tasks on the “to do” list. We have a Helper, and what an awesome, amazing, all knowing, all powerful, ever present Helper He is! I know of a young boy who prays for help while doing his examinations, and he has been led to the right answers many times! I know of someone else who was completely confused while doing her tax returns, but she began to pray in tongues and seek the Helper, and suddenly, everything became clear to her as she received divine downloads of direction! The Holy Spirit helps us to be more like Jesus, to forgive and love, to give the way the Father gives, and to see the best in those around us. He helps us to overcome the old ‘me’ and any habitual sin and to walk in holiness and power as Jesus has called us to do. We already have access to the wonderful awesome Spirit of God. Seek Him and receive His help today!

2) He teaches us all things because He is the source of all wisdom and revelation. The Helper is able to teach us the Word better than anyone else can, because He wrote it! The next time you sit down to read the Word, ask the Holy Spirit to give you revelation and understanding and to teach you what He wants you to know, and you will be amazed at the new insight and the depth of revelation you receive. It will be as though doors were opening within doors! He is the best teacher of the Word of God, but Jesus is telling us here that the Holy Spirit is able to teach us all things. Many people have supernaturally received foreign languages, new skills, and even learned to drive or operate machinery through the impartation of knowledge from the Holy Spirit. I once heard Heidi Baker speak about a man she thought was an engineer (but who really had no relevant training), and received Holy Spirit direction on how to install a deep (water) well! Many ingenious inventions, copyrights and patents should really be owned by the Holy Spirit, who generously gives us all knowledge and then steps aside to allow us the credit! Think of how much time we could save for some Kingdom purpose, if we relied on the Holy Spirit to teach us whatever we needed to know in life, instead of trying to struggle our way into knowledge and understanding! Take Jesus at His Word and give the Holy Spirit a chance to show you that He is able to teach us all things! (James 1:5).

3) Helps us to remember, especially the Word of God. There have been numerous times when I was unable to remember some verse in the Bible but suddenly “remembered” it when I asked the Holy Spirit! In the same way, I have often asked the Holy Spirit to help me remember something I had forgotten (where I left an object, or the name of a person/place, or details of an incident) and He always faithfully helps me out. Imagine how much more effective all aspects of our lives could be, and how fruitful for Jesus, if we submitted our minds and hearts to the precious Spirit and allowed Him to give us remembrance of everything we need to know! He helps us to stay on track by constantly bringing the Word of God to our hearts and this is such a huge blessing!

4) The presence of the Holy Spirit brings us peace which goes beyond our mental comprehension. Unlike the ‘peace of mind’ the world constantly seeks (and never really finds), the Holy Spirit peace Jesus promises is peace which fills the heart. Of course, if we allowed our hearts to doubt and be anxious, or we allowed fear to take a hold of us, then we would be unable to feel this awesome peace, because it is received and accessed through our walk of faith. In these last days where the Lord Jesus is pouring out His Spirit like never before, He is calling us to stop striving to make things happen and to yield our lives to the moving of the Holy Spirit. Trust Him to be your Helper in everything and you will walk in His absolute peace, completely secure that everything is alright because the Helper is in the driving seat, hallelujah!

Dear friend, is it not wonderful to know that God has appointed the Holy Spirit to be with us and help us? The Greek word parakletos means “helper, succourer, assistant, summoned, called to one's side, called to one's aid, a pleader, a counsel for defense, an advocate”. The Father has already called Him to your side.

Today the blessed Holy Spirit is speaking to your heart if you are struggling with any kind of sin. He wants you to call on His name and seek His help because there is nothing we cannot overcome by the power of the Holy Spirit and in Jesus’ name! He is also reaching out to many of Papa’s beautiful children who have received the Holy Spirit into their lives but never allowed Him to take over all the rooms of their “house”. Today is the day to throw open all the doors, remove all the barriers, and say “Precious Holy Spirit, please come and make me your holy habitation. Fill every part of my life with your presence. Fill me with You; I need You!” Acknowledge Him, invite Him into your daily life, and tap into His heart through the day (or night). He is God the Holy Spirit, the power of Creation, the lover of your soul, the One who loves to see you walking in the fullness of the abundant life, healed, whole and free.
The Blessed Helper is knocking at your heart’s door today. If you open your life to more of His presence, He will take your hand in His, transform your life, and fill it with His peace and power. Be filled, be captivated, be empowered by the awesome Parakletos – our Lord and Helper, the blessed, beautiful Holy Spirit, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
