The heiress left behind a large estate. The classification, heiress,, implies a maiden or woman of great wealth. As bargain hunters, we wait for notification of her estate sale. Walking through her stately house, we admire vintage heirlooms and priceless artwork. She had lived a life of affluence and respectability. We need not envy her, as God’s daughters and sons; we are all His heirs.
“Abba! Father. The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs-heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together (Romans 8:15b-17 NKJ).” We may not live in mansions or show up in “Who’s Who.” Yet, as observers walk through the corridors of our daily lives they will easily ascertain we are heirs apparent.
Short and to the point. An important reminder that we are indeed part of a royal household and heirs to ALL that is in CHRIST.
My wife and I named our home Hilkiah House after a priest who found a lost scroll and gave it to King Josiah. Hilkiah means 'The Lord is my portion" or my inheritance. It is a reminder to us that it is the Lord's presence not the Lord's presents, that we need most in this world.
