Here's my letter to a friend named Scott Somer whose girlfriend wanted to know what I thought about the film "The God Makers" a film exposing the Mormon cult.

Have you seen this movie about the LDS church? If so what is your opinion and/or take? Pam wants to know what you think of this film.
It was pretty good as I recall. Informative and educational concerning what the Mormons really believe but that most people don't know about what they believe including alot of Mormons.
I saw this film about the Mormon cult back around
1984 or 85 with a girl who ironically was a Mormon. I think when I picked this girl up to go see this film her father knew that this film was considered anti-Mormon propaganda in their circle but still he must not have discouraged his daughter from seeing this film because she went and we talked about it afterwards. She didn't know as much about Christianity or the Bible as I did so all she could do was tell me how she wished I could talk to a Mormon missionary who would try to straighten me out.
Shortly after this we broke up as I recall.
Hank Hannegraff has information on this cult if you are interested in learning what they believe but like I said in a previous email a ways back
it is better to know the truth from studying the Bible than to study all the false religions and cults because there are always new cults springing up all over the world that it is literally impossible to keep up with them. Besides if Satan can get us preoccupied with the lie, i.e. false gospels then he can prevent us from spending time
in the true gospel as found in the Bible.
NOTE: This film was put together by a guy named Ed Decker I believe or at least he co-authored a book called The God Makers. Decker probably consulted with the documentary film producers.
I spoke to an ex-Mormon who saw the film and/or read the book and he had a different take on the whole thing. He didn't think the film was very effective as an evangelistic tool.
I visited the Crystal Cathedral on Thursday night. Actually
I attended a speaking class called Bold Assurance. A few days earlier a writer friend and I visited this church to check out the architecture and look around at the property. We visited the bookstore and I bought a book and we left after taking some pictures.
Well, I hope this helps.
With warm regards
