Wonderful start to the day! The best days start out this way... the first one I speak to is the Lord... and the first voice I hear is His!
Started a new in-depth study of the Psalms today. I love studying with the men of God from the 1800s. No nonsense or distortions of truth from the ideas of men enter into their teachings. I found a book by F.B. Meyers, "Gems From the Psalms." He is a wonderful teacher from that time, and I have read so much of his writing and teaching that I thought I would go into Psalms again with him. Reading each Psalm and then reading his book on each along with it.
What a blessing! A lot of things to meditate on today! It's amazing how fast the time goes when you go deep into the Word. I have been studying for years and I learn something new each time I go into it. I really do love it!
Here is a quote from him:
"It is not enough to read the Bible as a duty--we must come to it with delight. This is possible if we eschew light and foolish literature which cloys (or satisfies) the appetite. Read the Book in happy fellowship with its Author; meditate until it is assimilated (understood and embraced; to allow to become part of you.) (James 1:25) Better one verse digested than a whole chapter bolted (or rushed through.) (Words in parenthesis are mine.)
So very true!
