Let me burn out for you Lord
Let me burn out for you
From sin and dross
Show me your cross
Let me burn out for you
Let me burn out for you Lord
Let me burn out for you
Thy Spirit Lead
Show me my need
Let me burn out for you
Let me burn out for you Lord
Let me burn out for you
Show me your Son
Let the victory be won
Let me burn out for You
Let me burn out for you Lord
Let me burn out for you
By faith show your grace
Just too feel your embrace
Let me burn out for you
Let me burn out for you Lord
Let me burn out for you
From sins evil way
To love may all sway
Let me burn out for you
Let me burn out for you Lord
Let me burn out for you
In a wink of a eye
May we all split the sky
Let me burn out for you
What does the term " Christian Burnout" mean to you ? In this politically charged world, this term seems to be used more and more. Especially, in parallel to Christian current events.
You see, this occurrence often times, may come about by us attempting to reach impossible expectations. And the inability to meet such demands, tends to make one think they are not successful in their Christian experience. Of course, this is not true, only another lie from the great deceiver, Satan. Thus, "Christian burnout".
What are some symptoms of burnout? The loss of the joy of serving Christ. Feeling you seem to always be giving and not ever receiving. Starting to resent your fellow employees and the others you serve. Starting to have the wrong priorities, the wrong motivation or being in the wrong ministry. And last but not least, just plain old physical fatigue. ( 1 Kings 18:46 ) ( 1 Kings 19:4 ) ( 1 Kings 19:10 )
So, what helps, in the recovery and renewal of "Christian burnout" ? Just pour your heart out to God. Tell Him about everything you think and feel. A good time for this conversation, is in the quite of the night just laying under the bed covers. And don't forget to listen to God's response. Just don't do all the talking. And the bottom line, make your relationship with God a priority, by praying daily, witnessing to others daily and worshiping weekly. ( Psalm 46:10 ) ( Mark 6:31 ) ( Matthew 11:28-30 ) ( Isaiah 40: 28-31 )
Just look up to Jesus ! ( Hebrews 12:2-3 ) And don't go it on your own ! ( Philippians 4:13 ) Remember, it's better to burn out for our Lord, than to burn out for man.
Author's Note;
Stress now contributes to 90% of all diseases. Half of all visits to doctors are stress-related. And about 80% of Christian leaders don't feel valuable. Imagine. A Christian who doesn't feel valuable.
