We should see our body as a vessel. It’s a type of protection uniform that works with our spirit. It matures and grows over time. This body houses our soul, spirit, and the body all in one. God said man was his greatest work; so in essence, God’s best work is inside of you. Even though the spirit and soul is higher on the hierarchy than the body, I’m just going to talk about the body today. I will move on with the soul and spirit in other blogs. God made us so unique that unlike other animals, we are aware of our own being. We can think and problem solve. God created us in his image, and it was perfect, but due to the rebellion of Adam and Eve, we were cast from the tree of life, losing our right to live forever at the time. Many years later, Jesus restored that broken link between Man and God so that if we believe in him we shall have everlasting life. Now, the body will die, but our spirit will go to heaven. Okay, so all that is true and accurate information that we should take into consideration, but my focus today is on the “Body”. While we are in this flesh uniform, we are to protect and care for this body to the best of our abilities. We must realize that we are alive for a short time, but we are dead forever. Similar to the animals of the Earth, we humans can be injured, killed, and can fall into sickness. Our bodies are just as fragile as the next animal. So taking care of your body should be priority one. So exercising, eating right, and staying mentally sharp is very important. God gave us a body to work hand and hand with him, meaning we are not to be too spiritual and we are not to be to carnal (I will elaborate on this later). We are to exist some where in the middle. This is the epitome of walking with God. Now pertaining to our bodies, we are to pray, fast, and rejoice for God, but we must realize that we are still breathing beings that need to sleep, eat, and stay healthy. God has giving us common sense and knowledge as to stay healthy and mentally sharp. The problem begins when we don’t value our body enough to stay healthy. This is where obesity, malnutrition, anorexia, and low energy come into play. Yes, the earth has changed over the years, and fast food is the new best invention going. With school, work, and partying, most Americans rather buy fast food than cook a home meal. Fast food does give us energy, but it lacks the nutrients that we need everyday. These nutrients help us stay mentally and physically healthy. They also act as a protective shield, guarding us from the dangerous toxics. People God will do his part if you believe and trust him, but he also wants you to do your part. You should pray, worship, give, live, play, smile, and laugh, but remember to always take care of your body in the process.
