Beauty of an angel,
Dark flashing eyes,
Life taken away,
At sixteen she died.
What would she have been,
Later in life?
A gift to all,
A blessed man’s wife?
Where did she go?
She comes in my dreams
Soft spoken words
Alive she is seen.
Oh, what a friend.
A sister and confidant.
Love flowed abundant.
From her gentle heart.
Seeking her now,
Is like trying to find
My youth lost,
Echoing my mind..
Grief engulfs me,
For this beautiful one,
Only a child,
When death was done.
Betrayed by her father.
Shot by his hand.
Turned the gun on himself.
Death by command.
How could this be?
Gentle souls they both were,
God, answer me,
How could this occur?
Devastation to everyone,
Left without her life,
The pain and loss,
Still cuts like a knife.
Forty years later,
Sadness bears down,
Still the questions,
Of why and how
God only knows,
How this came to be.
When reasons don’t come.
They are not ours to see.
