The Polished Granite

As I am going about my daily life, many things cross my mind as God deals with me. Today, I thought as I am hopeful that my faith will grow because I know that God will raise me to another level in this area when I have learned the lessons He feels are necessary for me. I realize that I must pass the test, or I will continue to be tested until I pass it. My goal is to pass the test of faith.
In thinking about this test, I thought about polished granite. I realize that it comes in a rough form; but when refined and polished; it is smooth and bright, and the swirls of color can be seen more easily.
So as I was out and about, I stopped my car at a park. On the ground, I saw granite gravel; and I picked up a piece. I then saw a mound of busy fire ants, and I decided to place the rough cut granite on the top of the ant mound. I actually stirred the ants, and they got really busy and covered the piece of granite. I thought well that perhaps I am the granite and ants are the polishing tool selected by God to refine and polish me. I figured that when the ants have climbed over me so much and smoothed out the roughness that they will move on to another spot and start over their busy work. Too, I could conceive from this that God is represented by the sod on which when the ants are through with me I will rest. My goal in this life is to grow in God and to be worthy for His use. My desire is to have great faith, and then I feel I will be able to rest in God after each test is passed by me. Also, perhaps with the refining of me, I will have a sheen by which my light can shine.© Juanita Pittman-Brown
