I was viewing a local Christian TV program, when the intervened quoted the above idiom. I instantly thought how awesome. What a title for a Bible study on being in despair ?
"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame
burn you." ( Isaiah 43:2)
Our God will never put us through the "test of fire" without a purpose for doing so. ( 1 Kings 18:40 ) So. what are your modern 21st century fires ? And how do you handle such fires ?
You may feel as if you are in the middle of a fire storm, with the flames of doubt, discouragement, depression, stress, loneliness, weakness, physical difficulties, etc, surrounding you on all sides. However, the Lord is telling you that you will never be consumed by the flames ( 1 Cor 10:13 ) because He is with you, in the midst the flames and will hold your hand. ( Isaiah 41:13 ) God will never be late but will always be on time, with regards to your particular situations.
The famous New York Yankee catcher, Babe Ruth, was quoted as saying, " every time I strike out, I'm that much closer to my next home run".
We , often times, get those preverbal " butterflies in our stomach ". However, we must never let our anxieties get the best of us, by keeping us from fulfilling God's plan for our lives. ( 2 Timothy 1:7 ) We should always, without any exception, place our trust in the living God. ( Psalm 56:4 )
One tool Satan often uses is getting us to isolate from our Christians friends and companions,( Romans 8:15 ) by persuading us to miss our church fellowship.( Hebrews 10:24-25 ) This is a "Christian no-no". ( Hebrews 13:5-6 ) ( Psalm 111:10 )
You see, we all want and need to be loved. We know our heavenly Father loves us ( 1 John 4:8 ) but we also need the love of our fellow Christians. When we, as Christians, love one another, we also show the attribute of God's love. ( John 4:9-10 ) And perfect love makes us forget our fears. ( 1 John 4:18 )
So, how do we Christians get rid of our anxieties ? Simply put, comment our fears to prayer. ( Philippians 4:6-7 ) ( Matthew 6:24 ) ( 1 Peter 5:7 0
When you feel those anxieties coming on, simply direct Satan to leave by saying, " get thee behind me Satan, I'm covered by the blood of Jesus", He will certainly scatter then. ( Exodus 12:13 ) ( Hebrews 9:14 )
And keep your Christian character intact. Don't compromise by giving way to the current worlds prevailing tendencies or its culture. ( 2 Cor 2:9 ) ( Ruth 3:11 ) Remember, Christians can never rise beyond the limitations of their character. ( 2 Cor 3:18 )
Do you have big expectations from God ? Then, develop a "holy boldness". Donít sit on the fence of "expectations".. Godís Word is clear about right and wrong, sin and holiness and character and consequences.( Jeremiah 29:11 ) ( James 1:22-25 ) ( Psalms 34:8 ) ( Galatians 2:20 )
When in school, I literally dreaded "report card" time. Even though I was a perfect below average student. However, somehow I managed to get through it and even got through college later in life. Not so with God.
God had His perfect will for each of our lives, before we even arrived in our mother's womb.( Jeremiah 1:5 ) ( Job 22:8 ) ( John 1:1-3 )
You see, we are more than conquerors through " Jesus Christ", ( Deut 28:1-14 ) ( Haggai 42:29 ) ( Job 42:12 ) ( Luke 6:35 ) ( Romans 8:37 )
Just don't fall into Satan's tramp and let his evil false plan for this world, lead you further into despair. Remember the story if Job, in the Bible. His is a perfect example of how to overcome Satan's evil Plan. ( Job 22:8 ) When approached by Satan, just say, ": get thee behind me Satan, for I am covered by the blood of Jesus, and you can't touch me".
Yes, as saved individuals, we are protected by God's eternal love. ( Deut 10:17-19 ) ( 1 Samuel 2:9 ) ( 2 Samuel 2:3-4 ) ( Psalms 4:8 ) ( Psalms 5:11 ) ( Psalms 18:30 ) ( Proverbs 2:7-9 ) ( Proverbs 3:21-23 )
Well, you may say those scriptures, regarding God's protection, are well and good but that was "old testament' justice. We are now living "in the church age". What about the "new testament" promises. Here go's. ( John 14:18 ) (John 14:27 ) ( John 16:13 ) ( John 16:33 ) ( John 17:11-19 ) ( Romans 8:35-39 ) ( 1 Cor 13:7 ) ( Colossians 1:13-14 ) ( 2 Thess 3:3 ) ( Hebrews 1:14 ) ( Hebrews 13:5-6 )
There you have it. God was always, and will ever be, in control of our lives, as Christians. ( Malachi 3L6 )( Psalm 91:9-10 ) ( 1 John 5:14-15 ) ( Acts 29:30 )
On motivational Bible aid, once really helped me out. I read one chapter, from the book of Proverbs, each day for a week. The month just happened to have 31 days, which worked out fine.
Just wear out the those " joints of the legs that allows for movement", in prayer to your heavenly Father. ( Ephesians 6:18 ) (James 5:6 ) (Matt 5:44 ) 1 Thess 5:25 ) ( 2 Thess 3:1-2 ) Romans 15:30 ( Collisions 4:2-3 )
