Many things can transform our lives: our education, our love lives, our family, our job our location, our lifestyles. But not all of these transformations are beneficial – even if they seem so at the time.

We live in a throwaway society and if something doesn’t work we want to throw it away and get a newer model or the like. People throw away their lives in the same way… Marriage breakdowns….family breakups…putting work before family…. Over indulging in something or other…be it food, drink, partying or something that has detrimental effects on your life…

No one is really free from the trappings of the world… We all live in the world and there are many things to trap us to ensnare us… Things that might excite us for a little while and things that go on to trap us and imprison us…

I don’t have to tell you, I am sure you can think of something that is either your jailer or close to it right now. Or maybe there is an experience in the past that you can see with hindsight wasn’t the best choice or decision…..

So how can these things that transform our lives so drastically also be the reason we fail, fall or get destroyed? When we become obsessed by the things that gave or give us pleasure; when nothing else matters to us anymore but that one particular thing; when we neglect the things around us: friends, family, health, advice, in pursuit of the one thing we think will make us happy or better…..or?

Many times these transformations have a limited life span. The job we so desired makes us tired. We work longer hours and are less satisfied. The car we lusted after is too expensive to maintain, the insurance is too high: the risks too great. The house we couldn’t really afford is at risk of being re-possessed. The loan we took out is draining our resources…
Yes, it is true this is not always the case, but there is always a high risk involved.

A lot of people want to transform their lives but look to short term or unrealistic outcomes to achieve the transformation. This leaves them empty and spent. So how do we transform our lives with long term effects and eternal benefits?

Jesus said in John 14:6 “ I am the way the truth and the life..”
He is the way we should live our lives: following his example. Putting God first, others second and ourselves last….” Having compassion and living in honesty… knowing our limits and not trying to exceed them but strengthening them….

Life is full of expectancy and full of hope and full of opportunities that we can take to help make other people´s lives richer and more meaningful… not living for the moment but living for the King of Kings…. The Lord God almighty…. Living by His rules and standard…. Living within His parameters… following his plan so we know where life will take us… Believing and trusting in Him to guide us in the decisions we make… Knowing that He works for the good of those who love Him, and are called according to his purpose.

So, what is His purpose? That no person should perish in their sins and spend an eternity outside his presence…
Jesus went on to say in the same verse from above … No person can come to the Father (God) except through me…. Except that we give Him the reigns of our heart and allow Him to be the way the truth and the life that we have. When we surrender our motives, desires and dreams to Him and allow him to guide us….

Ask Him to be Lord of our lives and to take control… Thank Him for making the ultimate sacrifice for us by dying in our place for our sins so that we could experience a transformed life….

Transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit that God pours out freely to enable us to live lives the right way up….. He gives us wisdom how to approach each situation and circumstance that arises (obviously when we walk according to His ways: when we live in sin there are always consequences to face… short or long term.)

He transforms our futures so that our ultimate destiny is changed from one of hopelessness and despair and eternal separation from Him to one filled with a hope and a future in Him…
Do you want to live a transformed life? Do you want to live how God planned for you to, and reap His benefits?? Then take that step today….

If you haven’t asked Jesus into your life yet and want to, acknowledge your sin before Him; ask for His forgiveness of living your life without regard to what He has sacrificed for you. Thank Him for sacrificing His life for yours and for giving you the opportunity to enter into a new life with a hope and a future. Then give Him the reigns of your heart.

If you need to reestablish Jesus on the throne of your heart, you might want to pray this prayer:

Father I place my life in your hands. Transform me into the person You want me to be. Give me courage to change my life and strength to follow You wherever You take me, whatever You ask me to do, because I know in You is where my destiny lies.
