Lord, have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord, have mercy.
Evoked confession thus I make,
of mysteries my sleeping does awake;
sublime I may it judge to be,
'tis but the words of bended knee.
Spirits hushed do gaze in awe,
of Gospel vistas beyond the Law,
of tongues that tutored by the cross,
utter secrets thought forever lost.
God descending, God flesh made,
God a servant doing as God bade;
the intercourse of heaven and of earth,
the visit of our God by bloodless birth,
when by communication of them each,
when that above to what below did reach,
so that no genus was corrupted,
or hybrid strange a third erupted.
Holy union that by condescension gave,
divinity's honor stolen by sin's grave;
majesty that hidden was in mission full imparted,
so spoke the deity in discourse and labored in his deed,
so died the man as God as immortality did bleed.
Oh, Jesus, Christ of God and His true Son,
who as man of passion made has won,
knowledge of a kingdom greater yet,
and in whose death Creator and the creature friendly met.
Lord, have mercy, Christ, have mercy, Lord, have mercy.
If you died today, are you absolutely certain that you would go to heaven? You can be! TRUST JESUS NOW
