“You will find as you look back into your life that the moments when you have really lived are the moments when you have done things in the spirit of love.”
You probably already hear the expression, “I’m having senior moments!” I do have many of those, but quite differently. They usually happen at the beginning of each month, like today. It made me reflect on my life.
There comes a time in our life when we discover that there’s more to life than mere existing. We also ought to live. And I don’t mean make a living. To “live” meaning to know our life’s purpose. To be able to be aware of the answer to the question, “Why am I here?”
As a mother, a wife and a nurse, I thought I’m already living my purpose. It’s true I’d done and still doing the responsibilities required of me as I try to fulfill those roles. But as I get older, I obtain real life education from day to day encounter with life itself. I realize that I find true joy and happiness not on what will make me happy, but knowing others are happy just because I am around. Those are the moments when I do things in the spirit of love. Honestly, agape love (God’s idea of love) don’t come naturally for me. I need supernatural help from the Holy Spirit.
How do we know we are “living” and not mere existing? These are just my thoughts. I honestly admit I don’t experience them always but when I did, those are the times when I focus on God’s love.
1. At the end of the day, do you pray, “thank God for this day”, or do you utter a deep sigh, “thank God the day is over?”
2. Do you fulfill your day to day obligations because you have to, or do you do them because you love to?
3. Do you work just for the money and for your ego and reputation, or do you work in the spirit of servanthood, even if it means for free?
4. Are we living for the glory of God or for our own glory?
Life is short. We all know that. We don’t know what life will bring. Only three more months and if we’re fortunate enough, we will face another year. How are we living our lives? How are we planning to live it the way God created us to be?
Prayer:
Dear God,
Thank You for Your love. Help us to live each day in the spirit of love the way You do. May we see Jesus in each one, in spite of our imperfection. Help us to serve You and others with gratitude and love in our hearts. Amen.
“ Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6
Be encouraged!

Dear Gloria... How true are the words you have written here! From the beginning, God has instructed His people to 'love one another'. When we do something in love, we are doing it for the Lord as well as for others. And the joy we feel is also a gift to ourselves. May we all make the most of our lives and give God all the glory each day of our lives!
