The following was written in 1982 when I was a college student at San Joaquin Delta Jr College in Stockton, Ca. I was zealous was truth then as I am now but notice there's no Christ or gospel in all of this. I professed faith in Jesus Christ but fail to see Him in my profession. This was printed up as a pamphlet and distributed around the campus. It could easily have been written by a religious intellectual who made no profession of faith in Christ.
There are social ills and birth control pills. A feminist cries out against the one and swallows the other. There are many people eager to point out the wrong in killing thousands of seals and whales every year, who see nothing wrong in killing, nay murdering 1.5 million human fetuses every year. Such is the contradiction of the human mind when it has no absolute standard by which to follow. People then fall victims to an insidious subjectivism inherent in their individualism. We constantly hear phrases like "Keep your morality off my body" muttered from the lips of pro-abortionists and we hear the misanthropic woman who shouts, "If men could get pregnant, abortions would be a sacrament." Such statements as these portray the ignorance and depravity of the human race. The mentality of our hedonistic young people is evident when they make statements like "You do your thing and I'll do mine" or "If it feels good do it."
We are constantly being reminded by the news media on television, the radio, and in the magazines how crime is on the increase, how our prisons are full, and how our public schools are failing. Why is it that in 20th century America we have a myriad of disillusioned souls and moral decadence which is spreading rampantly like a plague destroying everything in its path?
Is the solution to abating crime more rights for the guilty criminals and less rights for the innocent victims?
Is the solution to our over-crowded prisons to build larger, safer prisons with their luxurious colored TV's and swimming pools? (all at the taxpayers expense ofcourse!)
Or is the solution to our public schools to pay teachers higher salaries? In other words should we continue to be taxed to support our own destruction? The statist would have us to believe so. Personally, I never did favor suicide especially in the form of excessive taxation. But the statist would have us to abandon our religious and economic freedoms in order to promulgate a tyrannical centralized government, a totalitarian regime, where everything is under the control of the state. Salvation through the state schools is whatg is hope for. The state is seen as a god to "lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil." They will grant churches tax exemption provided they don't preach against abortion and homosexuality which the courts have declared legal but the Bible declares illegal.
Whom shall we believe and obey God or men?
Such court rulings as Roe VS Wade (1973) demonstrate the derelict character of corrupt court justices who so zealously advocate separation of church and state while penalizing those churches that oppose the states abortion laws on Biblical grounds. Is this the religious freedom guaranteed by our founding fathers in the Constitution? What is really meant by a separation of church and state is really separation of God and state. The ostensible sovereign state has tried to replace the Sovereign God of the universe. Thus we revert to, in a subtle way, Caesaropapism.
We are living in an age when everybody has the right to resent the rich man's wealth. In an egalitarian democracy we rob from the rich (in the form of the graduated income tax) and give to the poor by means of state welfare. This is hopelessly seen as trying to make things a little more equal in terms of distributing wealth, and helping to cure poverty and avoiding exploitation at the hands of the capitalists. But what happens to our Gross National Product when the burden of excessive taxation is place on the backs of the rich man who is often a capitalist providing and creatings jobs for hundreds of workers? What happens is that our GNP is restricted. Our country's potential production is lowered because the capitalist has been unjustly taxed by the socialist for his ideas, abilities, and efforts which have helped in providing us with lower priced goods and services through unrestricted trade and the principle of competition. The graduated income tax is seldom challenged today because of its apparent logic. Afterall, the more money a person earns the greater percentage of it should be taxed and given to Uncle Sam right? I can't imagine people whose personal incomes are taxed at 50 or 75 percent not asking themselves why they should work 6 or 9 months of the entire year for the government and only 6 or 3 months for themselves and their families.
Our public schools, which should more properly be called state controlled schools, are still suffering from the radical teachings of Horace Mann. Instead of the family being tghe primary educator, as in colonial America, the state is seen as the primary educator. The state determines the curriculum and it dictates to the students what they shall and shall not learn, how to learn it, and for what purposes. There is no absolute truth or standard in a humanistic, relativeistic curriculum. Evolution is seen as scientific fact while cration is seen as mythopoetic fantasy. How often have you heard a person say that science has disproved the Bible and has confirmed Darwin's theory of evolution? What do they mean when they say science? Do they mean mathmatical science, geological, psychological, or theological science has disproved the Bible? Well, they say, you know science. But what do they really mean? These individuals could be classified as gross ignoramuses ( a 144 times worse than an ordinary ignoramus) when they make such nonsensical statements. What they seem to mean by science is a particular school of physics based on non-Biblical presuppositions. The defintion of science is them limited to mean only physical knowledge. It should be obvious to everyone that there is more knowledge in the universe than just physical knowledge. The Latin word "scientia" from which we get our word science simply means knowledge. It has come to mean systematized knowledge so that theology, contrary to popular belief, is just as much a science as physics, chemistry or geology.
Now what detrimental harm has evolution done? Perhaps the better question would be what detrimental harm hasn't it done? First, it has helped instill in the minds of scientists, physicists, physicians, psychologists, and court justices the idea that man is an animal and the world we live in has no meaning or purpose but is a product of chance. Men are no longer seen as inherently evil but as inherently good. They become evil or corrupted by their environment and society. Therefore, the responsibility of the criminal is removed or alleviated and shifts to society. Instead of the criminal making restitution society will make restitution in the form of taxation.
It is interesting to note that at UC Berkerly in the 1960's the student protesters wnated the right to copulate openly on campus much like Diogenes and the cynics of ancient Greece to demonstrate that man was nothing more than an animal. Abortions are partially the result of evolutionary thinking. If man is an animal then the fetus is not human afterall but is simnply a piece of undesireable tissue to be mutilated and removed at whim like a cancerous tumor. Children are no longer seen as a blessed necessity but rather as a curses luxury. If having a child proves to be an inconvenience or a strain on the family's pocket book, then an abortion can readily be sought for a sum of money
ridiculously lower than what the cost of having and rasing the child would have been. It makes you wonder how a woman can commit her life into the hands of a doctor who himself takes life for money.
The problem confronting us in 20th century America is lawlessness. While the state has made the egregious error of asserting man's total autonomy through Kantian thought, the church ahs equally erred in asserting antinomianism through its dispensation teaching as developed and espoused by John Darby and C. I. Scofield. Thus both church and state have suffered concomitant effects by failing in adhering to and advancing God's laws. We must remember an important truth that "Whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap." If we sow seeds of corruptoin and destruction,k then we can expect to reap corruption and destruction. As Dr. R. J. Rushdoony has so well said, "If the people do not cleanse the land of its evil, then God will cleanse the land of its people." Our Puritan forefathers knew this fact. Unregrefully, this adulterous generation has forgotten it.
