Is America Dying? When we have two presidential candidates, neither of whom believes in the Lord Jesus Christ, I will say yes, America is dying. America became the country of promise; its people believed in Jesus and trusted Him to lead us. Our country has been blessed. There was only one other country so blessed; it was Judah. But Judah rebelled against God and God allowed the Babylonians to conquer them.
America has also rebelled. Its people have taken the Lord out of the classroom; we have committed sexual promiscuity; we tolerate homosexuality even to the point where the laws might be changed. We have tolerated pornography and obscenity. We have a government that calls evil good and good evil; and we have not repented of our sins. We have declared God to be off limits; we no longer want him to lead us, even though we have been blessed by Him.
We are experiencing major calamities, one after another in increasing velocity. Our schools have become major targets for violence, even murder.
We are no longer a peaceful, church loving society. We mock people who trust in God. We blaspheme God’s name, and His word is no longer desired. We have rejected our God. We have replaced God for our own desires. Even our music has lost its endearing hope and love. We have nowhere to turn for help. We have burned our bridges behind us. We are a people now without hope or faith.
It may be too late for revival, for repentance. We may have gone too far away from the Lord who created us. We do not even know how to recover what we have lost because we are satisfied with what we have; we no longer know how to address God; we have told him to go away.
Jesus is coming again and we are not ready for Him. We are like Cain who slew Abel and then hid from God. When God found him, Cain was unrepentant. God told Cain that his brother’s blood cried from the ground, and now he was cursed from the earth, that the ground would not yield its strength and that he would be a fugitive and vagabond in the earth. Cain said that his punishment was too great to bear, that by being a vagabond, he would be killed. Then God told Cain that whosoever slayed him, vengeance would be taken on him sevenfold, but God put a mark on him so that would not happen.
Then Cain went out from the presence of the Lord and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden. That is what we are doing; we are going out from the presence of the Lord, but we are not worried about being killed. However, without the Lord’s protection, being killed is a possibility.
