Starting in early October, The Global Leadership Summit will broadcast to thousands of South Africans across the country. The two-day event exists to encourage the transformation of Christian leaders by providing them with an injection of vision, inspiration, and skill development. Bill Hybels, the event’s founder, will kick-start the summit with fresh insights into his current season of leadership and ministry.

In addition to Hybels, the summit will feature several prominent speakers including Condoleezza Rice, Jim Collins, Marc Kielburger, Pranitha Timothy, Craig Groeschel, Patrick Lencioni, William Ury, John Ortberg, and Geoffrey Canada. Each will discuss a challenging topic that addresses the issues faced in government, business, and church leadership. Believing in the value of leadership development for the sake of local churches, the team hopes to shift mindsets for greater impact.

Rice, who has had to make tough decisions during world-changing events, including 9/11, is also well known for her ability to run an organization successfully. During the summit, she will share the key principles she follows when making difficult decisions. Jim Collins, a best-selling author, plans to discuss his latest book, Great by Choice. His talk will explore the qualities and disciplines leaders need in order to survive and thrive during unpredictable times.

Co-founder of Free the Children, Marc Kielburger will explain how he has managed to develop a culture of motivated volunteers and teams. As he shares his experiences, event attendees can expect to learn the art of engaging an organization with limited resources. Pranitha Timothy, who has led her team through life threatening situations to free thousands of slaves, will dedicate her talk to her story of courage and perseverance in the midst of injustice.

Groeschel is set to speak about partnering generations, while Lencioni will focus on the importance of creating organizational health. William Ury will discuss how leaders can bridge massive disagreement between individuals and organisations. This topic has not yet been presented at a Global Leadership Summit, but it is a common challenge many leaders face. The impact of Jesus’ leadership is a topic that John Ortberg will delve into during his speech, with Geoffrey Canada tackling education reform.

The topics for this year’s summit are designed to stretch attendees beyond their comfort zones in an effort to bring about the kind of change people want to see in leaders around the world. The summit promises to be an exciting, thought-provoking event that is not to be missed.
