Sunday 9/9/12 Pastor Michael sermon = Show Me the Evidence of True Faith James 2:14-22

Nowadays its hard to believe what you are told. It may sound eloquent and good but show me what someone is saying. We have heard it time and time again-show me! People in relationships make promises and we get tired of hearing it. Instead we say show me! Its sounds good but show me. It means nothing no matter how good it sounds with no actions.
FAITH needs action to follow it. We shall walk by faith, we are saved by faith and to please God we must have faith. Faith is obeying in spite of the consequences. When you really have faith, it doesn’t matter what you are facing. If God said it then that settles it! We wouldn’t be where we are today without having faith in God. Trust Jesus and wait until our change comes! Faith is more than what you say. Faith is not just a noun but a verb. Its what you do with your faith. We need to………
1) Have a Commitment to Overcome Dead Faith vs. 14
Faith without works is dead. Faith with no works=faith standing alone is dead. Faith in our head where we can recite scriptures but don’t act on them. Vs 14 You can’t say be warm to a cold naked man and not give them a blanket! When people come to us with a need, we should do something about their need and not just say “lets go pray”. When we see one in need and help them and they can’t give back to us, that’s FAITH in action. When we are giving to the poor that can’t pay us back, God owes us and we will get blessed. God will give us our desires! Give and it shall be given to you, good measure, pressed down and shaken together and running over!
We have to let something go- release something then we will be blessed. Release it by faith! If its not our harvest then its got to be our seed. More seed we sow, the bigger harvest we have! Faith says we got to wait on the seed and praise God. God is no shorter than his word. If He says it then He will do it!! The good Samaritan showed his faith by helping the man hurt in the road. He showed his actions in faith. We who help people along the way, don’t need to worry about folk who don’t do right but seem to get blessed. God said he will cut them off and instead will bless us and bless us and bless us! God is not done with us yet! It isn’t over until its over! Give God Praise!!
2) Overcome Demonic or Deceptive Faith vs. 19
Demonic or deceptive faith is emotional. We get all happy, shouting, jumping at church and then go home unchanged. Believing and getting emotional is not enough. We have to act on our faith and do something with it. Faith comes by hearing the word and then doing it. Do something with your faith. This is what separates us from the demon. The demons believe but just don’t do. We are to believe, fell good with the faith and work in the faith…Do It!
The devil doesn’t care that we believe and feel good in our faith if we are not going to do anything with the word after we leave church. We who do nothing are no threat to the devil. Its when we act on the Word of God and walk in Faith that we are a threat!
3) Have Dynamic Faith
This is faith with works. This is believing in faith, walking in faith and having intellectual faith, emotional faith and walking /doing the faith. Abraham and Sarah walked in faith at 99 and 100 years old. They believed God, kept working in their faith and had a baby. Later Abraham had the faith that when God told him to sacrifice his son, that God would raise him back up! Isaac trusted God. Abraham trusted God. Abraham showed action with his faith by getting ready to kill Isaac. Whatever God tells us to give or do, we need to have faith and just do it! Believe!
