Eye for an eye, tooth for tooth,
the world is torn asunder.
Two men half-blind, with toothless proof;
is it any wonder?
You call me a liar, though it's true,
while lying against the truth.
You've never lied, now have you;
A lie just as uncouth?
One man sought revenge,
for a loved-one murdered.
In blinded hate, killed many men;
the sin was only furthered.
Eye for an eye is sin for sin,
offending a holy Lord.
It's destroying the world of men,
with His Son left ignored.
Be careful how you handle sin,
your actions may only breed it.
Follow the example of the Son of Man,
annointed by the Spirit.
Heed the Word, not the letter;
its spirit is its heart.
Truth with Love makes us better;
lights within the dark.
Don't return evil for evil
two wrongs make no right.
Holy Love short-circuits the peril,
offered in His might.
And if a man takes an eye,
offer the Light for his.
Grant the Gospel, make him wise,
to know Salvation's bliss.
You both may see how both were blind,
but for the grace of God.
You both may see that He is kind,
provoking both to laud.
