Since God wants true worshippers that are able to worship him in “Spirit and Truth”, we, as the body of Christ should try to discern what this actually entails. This is a request from the Almighty to worship him in a manner that is both pleasing and is effective for generating His presence. It will be important for a believer to set this as top priority in their Christian walk. He or she should be able to generate and equally initiate honor to our God, who is supreme above all others. Showing his or her utmost appreciation to our God, who has redeemed each and every one of us from the fall of man. This praise and honor is given to God who is in Spirit form, therefore, we must worship him in “Spirit and Truth”.( John 4:23-24). What does worship in the Spirit mean? I would say, it is acknowledging your communication to God will be done through your spirit man, and not through your intellectual capacities. You will not be quoting scripture or reading someone else’s formulation of words and/or prayers. Your heart’s desire should be to know your God with all your heart, mind, and soul. If you will imagine yourself being fully exposed to your Creator, and allowing Him to reveal all that you need to know at that time. This would be worshiping in truth, revealing everything to your Lord and Savior and He, in turn will be able to minister and provide revelation to you.
Often times, believers will equate worship to God with the praise and worship generated in church services. This is an outward form of praise and worship, and is similar to making a public declaration of what you believe and how you feel about your God. This is nice and God will inhabit the praises of his people, however, this is not a replacement for worshipping God in “Spirit and in Truth”. Worshipping in “Spirit and in Truth” requires personal time with God and is not usually in a public arena. There are great spirit-filled songs and hymns that can be sung during your moments with God, which can enhance your communication with God. To know God in “Spirit and in Truth” will be our greatest challenge, as he already knows each and every one of us. Once we connect and truly know our God in “Spirit and Truth”, our lives will never be the same…
Yes, Belinda. Worship is not made by public praises and exhibitions, even though our true worship will influence our public expressions.
Worship is each individual's study and recognition of God's WORTH (the source word of WORSHIP).
And I like the way you expressed that worship is not expressed by our knowledge.
Worship of God is witnessed by expressions of God (John 5:30).
