Give Place To The Word
Why do we say give place to the Word? Jesus said we don’t give place to the Word because His Word has no place in us in John 8:37 as he spoke to the Jews. The Jews had declared that they were of Abraham’s seed and were never in bondage to any man so how in the world was Jesus saying to them you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free?
St. John 8: 31-33, 37 then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, if ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed. And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. Then answered him, we be Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, ye shall be made free? I know that ye are Abraham’s seed, but ye seek to kill me because my word hath no place in you.
Because they were Abraham’s seed they felt they could do anything with no repercussions. They thought that because they were of the promise they were free from death. They only accepted the parts of the Word that they wanted. They wanted to continue in their messed up lives where they did not have to give an account to anyone. It’s fascinating how people today give no place to the Word of God. They do what they want, when they want, how they want, where they want and with whom they want. There is no wisdom associated with what they do and no thought of eternal life. Everyone feel we all have the same Father; God. God is the Father of all that was created and made. Everything created obeys God but what was made was given a choice to obey and love God. We cannot say we love God and be in total disobedience to His Word. It’s impossible!
It’s impossible for man to be a servant of sin and say they love God. He is incapable of loving God in sin. It is not impossible for him to turn his life around by becoming the servant of God. Only in Christ, being born again and Holy Ghost filled is he able to escape the bondage of sin. Then when he began to serve righteousness he can fall in love with God. God loves the sinner but he hates the sin they do. It is sin that bring the judgment and wrath of God upon man. Sin is extremely undesirable and unacceptable to God. It is hard for God’s servants to sin because they too hate it. You can’t love what you hate. When sin takes up residency in the heart of man it has lingered there for a while before it began to dwell or live in the heart. In other words sin makes it’s reservation before it comes to live there. After this action we can expect some negative effects of its residency. Sin has a widespread, indirect, or unforeseen effect of an act, action, or event. An example of a reverse action for fornication or adultery is an unwanted pregnancy or divorce. All acts of wrongdoing eventually catch up with you. The devil uses us then expose the sin because we fail to repent and stop when the warning is given.
The Word says there is none good but one, that is God. We are to call no man our father upon the earth; for one is your Father which is in heaven. Jesus said in Mark 12:26-27, I am the God of Abraham and the God of Issac and the God of Jacob. He is not the God if the dead but the God of the living. He is the Father of all who live unto Him that He can witness of. We shall all be taught of God and when we hear, really have heard and learned of the Father we will come to Him and serve Him in Spirit and in Truth. We can only see God through His Word and Works. We see Him through the things of His Creation which cannot be denied. No man is able to pluck us out of God’s hand we choose to walk out on Him when we make the choice to sin.
These Jews failed to realize that they transgressed the Commandments of God by their traditions. God is a progressive God. Man’s failure is this; we fail to read the Word to know what the Word says to us and so we don’t speak the Word which stirs up the Spirit to action. We do not give place to the Word. Jesus went and came according as it was written of him in the Scriptures. All that was written was accomplished concerning Jesus; the Christ. Man is slow to believe the Word in their hearts. We don’t want to suffer afflictions as Christ did and don’t believe He should have suffered. But Christ suffering took him into his glory. All things must be fulfilled that is written in the Law of Moses and in the prophets, and in the psalms concerning Christ. We must give place to the Word, for there we will find eternal life.
We are clean through the Word, sanctified through the truth of the Word, and if we continue in the Word we are God’s disciples. We have been charged to carry the Word of God therefore we must search the scriptures for in them we think we have eternal life for they testify of Christ. Christ came to do the Will of the Father that sent Him; not his own will. We must make up our minds also that we will give place to the Word, come to the Father and hate all that He hates. We cannot be narrow minded and offensive. If we offend one that believes in God it is better for us to hang a millstone about our neck or be drowned in the depth of the sea. Offences come but woe to the man that the offence comes from. Give place to the Word to act accordingly as it is written that we may enter into the rest of God. This is the joy, peace and righteousness in the Holy Ghost.
Christ built the church on the revelation of God to Peter in Matthew 16:18, and I say also unto thee. That thou art Peter and upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Thou art the Christ is the revelation given Peter when Jesus asked him who do you say that I am. We must come to know Jesus in a more significant way than He is preached today. We have neglected to preach Christ and Him; crucified. Christ came to fulfill all righteousness and He did. We too have been called to fulfill the righteousness of Christ our living example of holiness. He said in Matthew 28:19 as a charge to all that believe, go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. He that believe and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believe not shall be damned. John truly baptized with water but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. Give place to the Word today!
God’s riches of His glory is what He will grant to us that we be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; that Christ may dwell in our hearts by faith that we be rooted and grounded in love. That love is to abound more and more in knowledge and in all judgment through the Word. We cannot get around the Word of God and say we love Him. We are to remember His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. Remember his work of faith and labor of love and let us also love one another. Love is of God and everyone that love is born of God. To know Him is to love him and to love him is to keep his Commandments; giving place to the Word.
