Abram was by faith made so righteous holy,
grasping for his surety the word of promise solely,
and though by life at every turn was denied and contradicted,
'twas his accusers that by God were punished and convicted.
Far from Ur he up and did without compass travel,
thrust by hope to an unseen place o'er gritty sand and gravel,
and settling at the oaks of Mamre there did solemn kneel,
offering Him the fruit of praise who would mark him with His seal.
Three fellows once did him a visit friendly pay,
stopping at his tent while on their mission way,
and as he them attended with a meal of finest fare,
that these band of three were one the same he was divinely made aware.
In time his faith was tested, full and final well,
when ordered by his God a deed that seemed to come from Hell.
His seed and heir must to blade be put and as a holocaust be burned--
until by blooden oath God's own law was by Him overturned.
Patience then its work performed perfecting Abram's faith,
making him believing bold whatever God in mystery saith.
And by the credit given him from God's own wounded lamb,
he became the sire of many, our great father Abraham.
