Within fields of green and flowers of gold
There lies a lonely dusty road
The path is long and uncertain
So little these wanderers know about the river of eternal life
There’s no wonder why they strayed onto the dry path of strife
If only they would seek Your holy face
How different their lives would be today
Chorus:
They think they can walk this without knowing You
Oh, how little they know about the lasting, ultimate truth
The truth that forever lies within You
They continue their journey into the night
With nothing to guide them but the stars
Without You in their lives
It’s a wonder they’ve made it this far
But upon their long walk
A glowing figure they see
A man dressed in ancient clothes
Holding His arms open
Waiting to set us free
Little can be said about the wanderers of the earth
Until they find Jesus
They won’t know how much they’re valued and worth
But until they find Him, Jesus, our King
They will continue to walk their own desolate path
As though they were led by a string
When the string keeps breaking
And stumble the wanderers will
They will look up and see the shining face of Emanuel
Chorus2:
Oh, the love of the Lord is great in magnitude
He surely can change the deepest, darkest attitude
His love lifteth up all who need Him and many more
All He asks is when He knocks you open the door
Now that the door is open
And the wanderers have let Him in
They know not what joys are about to begin
One by one the wanderers’ lives will be changed for the better
As they repent and give their lives to the former carpenter
Now all is well with their spirits
Glory be to Jesus, the one who can cure us
Yes, glory be to the King
The King of all nations
