Hypocrisy is a Profession Practiced
Hypocrisy is a profession rather than a practice. It is the concealment of one’s real character, disposition, or motives; assuming a false appearance of virtue. It is associated with both minor and major duties and should be denounced. The hypocrite will not go without punishment such as Ananias and his wife. The Pharisees and false prophets mostly are to be known as people full of hypocrisy.
Psalm 5:9 for there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulcher; they flatter with their tongue.
Jesus said there was denunciation of eight woes concerning hypocrites in Matthew 23:13-33. Hypocrites are those who pretend to be what he is not; one who feigns to be other and better than they are. They practice hypocrisy as a profession of lying, killing, and deceitfulness. No man or servant can serve two masters; for either they will hate the one and love the other; or else he will hold to the one and despise the other. The one that practice hypocrisy is in the profession of loving devouring words; for their tongue is one of deceitfully lying. He that works deceit should not dwell within our house and he that tells lies should not tarry in our sight according to David in Psalms 101:7. Anybody should not be able to come into your house especially the house of God and handle the holy things if they are full of hypocrisy.
They will tear up homes and tear down the church of Jesus Christ and go their way boasting of what they did. A vile person is liberal and boastful and will speak villainy and their heart will work iniquity, to practice hypocrisy. Their tongues are as an arrow shot out; it speaks deceitfully where his neighbor is concerned. He speaks in peace to him with his mouth but in his heart he lay wait for him to do him harm. Who can know that the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked other than God? Man looks on the outward appearance but God looks on the heart. Hypocrisy is a professional inside job.
Micah 7:5 says trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide; keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom. When people practice hypocrisy they know the secrets of another that they may do as Satan did Adam. He used the woman to destroy what God had told Adam bringing disobedience to its full stature. People cause us to miss out on God. People close to us will cause us to abort the plan God have for us if they aren’t the one used to get the job done. Jesus warns in Matthew 3:7 of the generation of vipers to flee from this profession of hypocrisy for it will bring forth wrath and bring forth fruits meet for repentance. If man rewards us what reward will we have in heaven? Take heed that we don’t do alms before man to be seen of them for we will have no reward of the Father which is in heaven.
The profession of hypocrisy shows forth beams in the eyes of others but the one that practice hypocrisy doesn’t see the beam in their own eyes. They walk around like a mouse and come in sheep clothing but inside they are full of dead man bones. They are inwardly ravening wolves. They draw nigh to God and man with the deceitfulness of their lips; untruthfully dishonoring them within their hearts. The hypocrite plays the part; they dress the part and speak the part. They are great pretenders. They will if allowed take away the key of knowledge to certain things at their disposal that edify God but not them. They are not content with where they are; they want to be the chief of everything. They don’t know how to take the low role. They will hinder a program if they are not the chief performer. Remember they practice hypocrisy as a profession.
One that practices hypocrisy always reminds others of who they are and what they have never done. They love to be seen of men as something that they are not. They judge and condemn others to keep eyes off of their own inability to be something in God. They are jealous of gifted people just as the Scribes and Pharisees were of Jesus. Of course they thought he was just a carpenter’s son. One who profession is hypocrisy never rises to the place in Christ they desire because of their inward motives. They only deceive themselves. This person possesses a double mind and is instable in all of their ways. They seem to be religious saying do as I say rather than what God says. This man’s religion is vain. They use the liberty in Christ for a cloak of maliciousness. They can treat people however they want to and think there are no repercussions to their actions.
John the Revelator says in Revelation 3:1 that God said I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead. This professional hypocrite is dead while they live and will die a death that will take them to hell except they repent. But there is still the judgment that is associated with what they have done. They have compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. When we seek to make people like us rather than like Jesus we are full of hypocrisy and in turn make devils instead of Christians. We recruit men to be a part of our faith, organization or cause instead of God’s. When we seek to make them like us we become professional hypocrites. Who are we that we would want man to pattern themselves after us and not Jesus Christ? They become an alien resident in the kingdom of God completely missing the whole plan of salvation. We become their gods just as the kings were the gods of the Pharisees and Scribes. They sought to please the king rather than God.
We are blind guides that go after money rather than the true and living nature of God. Our moves are all about the money so we sell our soul out to get the gold. We are guilty of swearing by the gift we possess and misusing it for our own purposes. We omit the weightier matters of the law of God, judgment, mercy and faith. We pronounce wrong judgments on each other, we have no mercy in the things we do as if we are so much better than the next person and our faith is not what it should be in Christ. We kill the small matters but leave the big matters alone. We make small things big by blowing them up when we have much more dirt in our closet to fill the earth up if the truth be told. We are full of extortion and excess cleaning up our mess as we go not to be exposed to man, but God knows.
We must first clean up ourselves from this profession of hypocrisy before we erupt like a volcano. God will expose those that are guilty of this profession of hypocrisy very soon. Now is the time of repentance. We all need to come clean with God and rid of the unrighteousness of hypocrisy in our hearts. This is iniquity, hidden sin in the confines of our hearts. We destroy others and say that they are no good when there is none good but God. It’s time we stop saying that if it were me, I would have done it this way or better. Stop the pretense that we are better than someone else for we are not. We are guilty of murder when we speak things out of our mouths that tear down rather than build up. It is character assassination naturally or spiritually so and we need to quit; how can we escape the damnation of hell? Everybody is not wrong!
