Sunday 8-12-12 Minister Eldridge sermon= Delayed But Not Denied; My Break Thru Is On The Way!! Mark 9:17-26
God doesn’t answer prayer the way we think He should. He lets us know that His ways are not our ways. Our praying to him is not us getting our way but that things go God’s way. God is doing something bigger than what we anticipate. He may not come when we want him but he comes right on time. God is working on it and will bring it to pass after a while.
Jesus is NOT our spiritual Santa Clause! If it is God’s will and He is working on something, it will come to pass. An unanswered prayer is not a denied prayer. When we tell our prayer to others we need to be careful who we share our vision to. Not everybody is on our side. Sometimes we tell people what God is going to do for us and it has not happened yet. Trust God and wait no matter if people are laughing at us. Be faithful and hold on.
When it seems like God is not answering our prayers, we need to remember that everything is possible to them that believe. Sometimes God is building up our faith by making us wait. Maybe we are not ready for it yet. We have to keep the faith! Walk alone and stay away from the clique. The clique is not praying for us!
1) Don’t Be Swayed: Whatever we are praying for, don’t be swayed by what we see, hear or how we feel. Don’t be swayed!
2) Stand Firm: When we stand firm our faith will get stronger. God may have a greater purpose for us and this is why he is not answering our prayer. Just like when Joseph was enslaved and then in prison. God may be preparing us for the Palace!
3) Stand Up in the Midst of Hatred and Trust God! : Verse 17 The man brought his son to Jesus because his son had a demon that the disciples couldn’t cast out. The disciples had prayed a “pretty prayer” and it didn’t work. If we ever get sick don’t let anyone come to our sick room praying a “pretty prayer”. We need someone in contact with Jesus to pray for us! The “pretty prayer” the disciples prayed was so good that the devil walked by and said “good prayer, dog”
Between the time the man left his house until he got to the disciples until he got to Jesus, his prayer changed. When he got to Jesus, the man just said, “Lord I believe, help my unbelief.”! He knew Jesus could do it and he wanted him to do His Will. The man said help his unbelief! Not my will but God ‘s Will be done! There is something that God is doing in the atmosphere. God knows exactly what we need.
Our prayers will be answered! Don’t give up just believe! Martha and Mary had Lazarus’ funeral and Jesus raised him from the dead. He said “Lazarus come forth“! Jesus raised Lazarus up after him being dead and stinking! So we know that God can raise us up and answer our prayers! Let them laugh at you, let them talk about you. Your blessing is on the way!!
