With the enormity of all that is before Water4, it sometimes seems what we are doing is impossible. We choose to do it, not because it’s easy, but because Jesus Christ has appointed us to His service and we see Him equipping us with all good things to do His work. “With God all things are possible.”
There is much work going on especially with our drilling teams in Africa. The Oklahoma City office has been extremely busy putting in long hours packaging orders for several countries and working with our missionaries, Matt and Grace Hangen, who have been in Oklahoma City helping with the work at hand. Their presence and support has been an enormous blessing here though their hearts are with the African people who they will be returning to this fall.
The following is a brief account of recent Water4 activities.
MALI, NIGER, GHANA
We have just delivered 450 water pumps and 30 drill kits (1 drill kit equips one drilling team with the tools necessary to begin business) to Mali, Niger and Ghana. Water4 will begin training local drilling teams in these three countries in October 2012. This is the beginning of the 7,000 well projects in which Water4 and World Vision are partnering. The result will not only be clean water for thousands, but approximately 150 nationals will soon have very good, stable jobs.
Water4 trained a World Vision group in Ethiopia some time ago. We heard from them with great joy last week. They have drilled their 40th well and are ready to start increasing their well counts exponentially. As wells are being drilled, World Vision is taking the gospel to the people.
On a side note, World Vision has sent an e-mail to many of their Area Development Projects in Africa where they are working and sponsoring children. World Vision provided them with information about Water4 and asked if they would be interested in receiving water wells in their respective villages. The World Vision representative told us that they were immediately inundated with thousands of responses in areas where World Vision has already set up evangelism teams who are working with the local villages.
Our Water4 Zambian drilling team, Samfya Water and Sanitation, was approached by UNICEF a few weeks ago with questions on how they drilled boreholes and installed pumps. UNICEF had many questions and our guys proudly answered every one of their inquiries. Our team has precise drilling logs and accounting books that showed their knowledge of geology and hydrology, as well as having all the basic skills of running a business. Our missionary team, Mark and Carmen Brubacher, were very proud of the team and told us, if UNICEF chooses Samfya Water and Sanitation for their project, it will be a 250 well project in northern Zambia. Mark and Carmen are also very excited because it will allow them the opportunity to take the good news of Jesus Christ into many more villages throughout their region. We serve a God of miracles.
In Angola the Water4/World Vision 1,000 well project is well under way. We just received an email from the Angolan teams stating they have reached their first 100 successful wells which are now pumping clean water to villages that had never had clean water before. Below is the thrilling announcement.
A note from Angola
“I want to take this moment to share with you a moment of joy…
We have completed our 100th Well (water point)! We have completed a significant number of water points, though we still have a long way to go, we are pleased with the successes in this short time. I want to take a moment to congratulate the effort of all of the people involved in the process including the municipal administration and communities, the providence directors of energy and water, and the other local authorities. We have here the results of transparent commitment and a sensitivity to the needs of people as we all struggle to improve the conditions of life in the poorest communities.” Chilata, 19/07/2012
Water4 is now entering a phase of growth that is exciting. There is much work to be done. We are humbling ourselves before a powerful God who has called us to this endeavor. We are eager to see more lives changed because of the availability of clean water and because the gospel of Christ is being proclaimed as the eternal source of life. It is through His will, His might and His wisdom that great things are being accomplished. To God be the glory, forever and ever.
Water4 greatly appreciates the financial and prayerful support of all our partners. You are an important part of His work.
