Jehovah’s Witnesses – Are they right?

Two Jehovah’s Witness missionaries came to my door the other day, and I gladly spoke with them and we exchanged their beliefs based on their Bible…the New World Translation….and I used the King James Version (from my head).

Their origin came about when Charles Taze Russell (1852-1916) started it in 1875. The religion began from a “revelation” to Charles, that Jesus secretly came back to the earth in 1874….for reasons known only to this founder.

He predicted that the “anointed ones” within the Jehovah Witness groups that he started, would be called to heaven in the year 1914. When that did not happen, he revised his date.

Upon his death in 1916, Joseph F. Rutherford took over..but he made huge changes in the “Russell Theology” and this caused a major split in that religion. ….leaving one to wonder, “If the second guy didn’t buy the theology of the founder who received revelations from God….then the founder was in error”.

Rutherford decided to evoke a “theocratic form of government” within the J.W. organization - thereby eliminating any Democratic rights of freedom of ideas, and he also started to organize a “missions outreach program”, whereby any J.W. who wished to keep their status as “anointed one” must go door-to-door to “evangelize” those who might be less familiar with the Bible.

The "Bible" intended to mean the conversion of Hebrew (Old Testament) and Greek (New Testament) Scripture written in 1611 into the “King’s English”…(The King James Bible) which attempted to make God’s Word more understandable to the English…adding “thee and thou” for “you” and other such English phrasing, but the Word was intact.

Because the founder’s theology changed – the Jehovah’s Witness leadership designed their own version of the Bible when, in 1961, they created the “New World Translation” of the King James Translation.

Their belief system (aka “Religion”) incorporates tenets of their faith that negates the Bible teachings, and makes the “traditions of the men of J.W. leadership” and their New World Translation of the Bible something that they adhere to.

Their missionaries must study the NWT version, which has changed a few things or added a few things to the Bible….and the Bible forbids adding one word to – or removing one word from it as a punishable offense from the God, Jehovah…whom they claim to revere.

Revelation 22: 18 – 21 – in their own version, reads, “I am bearing witness to everyone that hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone makes an addition to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this scroll; - and if anyone takes anything away from the words of the scroll of this prophecy, God will take his portion away from the trees of life and out of the holy city, things which are written about in this scroll.”

In many places in their Bible, they have added to or removed KEY words or changed God into god (small g) to help them achieve the goal of making their revised ("Rutherford theology) as opposed to the founder's original "Russell’s theology, fit with their revision of the Bible when they created their New World Translation in 1961.

In verse 21 of their Bible, they immediately changed the original to add or take away from the original Bible verse.

The original verse 21 reads, “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.” The intent of the verse is “May God’s grace…which is the gift of salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ, be with ALL people of the earth.”

Whomever receives this gift, by accepting Christ as Lord & Savior, will inherit eternal life….whomever rejects what Jesus did on the cross will be denied heaven and will be sent to hell for eternity….and J.Ws do not believe there is a literal hell – a literal “lake of fire”, nor do they believe that God would allow anyone to be tormented for eternity.

Their NWT Version of the Bible reads this way: “May] the undeserved kindness of the Lord Jesus Christ [be] with the holy ones.”

This adds to and takes away from God’s Bible by suggesting that God did not mean to offer His grace to everyone on the planet – “God is not willing that any should perish but that ALL should come to repentance”..but…He must have meant “the grace of God that brings salvation to all is untrue…but only to the ‘holy ones’…the “anointed” within the Jehovah’s Witness religion.

Therefore, would God, who wrote in their version of the Bible, “If anyone makes an addition to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this scroll; - and if anyone takes anything away from the words of the scroll of this prophecy, God will take his portion away from the trees of life and out of the holy city, things which are written about in this scroll” do what He says He will do? I believe He will.

Let’s get to the J.W. belief system, but I will only use their 1961 Bible when I want to prove to them that their NWT Version should convict them – without reverting to the King James version of 1611.

The two missionaries who exchanged ideas with me on my front porch on August 6, 2012, said, “We do not believe in hell. We believe that man dies and goes into “hades”, and basically – only the “anointed ones” get to go to heaven. Over time, God remembers the others and resurrects them to spend eternity in “paradise” which is here on the earth…while Jesus administers how the earth shall operate – from His home in heaven.”

I said, “But science has proven that there is a literal “Lake of Fire” 4,000 feet beneath the surface of the earth…and is it not strange that the earth surface is covered with cool water and cool dirt? How is this possible?”

They explained to me (regardless of what even science has demonstrated), that hell or the Lake of Fire is not real, and that hell is really this thing called “Hades”, which is part of the earth where spirits of the dead go unless they are “the chosen” – aka “the anointed” or God remembers them, over time, and calls them to live on the surface of the new earth which is where heaven will be.”

By the way, I shocked them by agreeing with them that "heaven" wil be on the earth...but not like they figured. All of heaven...God included, will be on the earth after the one thousand year period of time that Jesus reigns in Jerusalem - with His saints. First, the rapture takes place...then..all hell breaks loose for 3.5 more years, then Jesus returns to the earth (Mt. Zion) and sets up His kingdom for the Millenium".

Then, we go back to heaven for a short spell while God meters out judgment for all who rejected what His Son, Jesus, did on the cross....and then God burns the earth with fervent heat...and lowers the "New Jerusalem" to the earth...and we all reign here for eternity.

Unfortunately, their own NWT Bible of 1961 reads, in Revelation 19:20 – “And the (wild) beast was caught, and along with it the false prophet that performed in front of it the signs with which he misled those who received the mark of the wild beast and those who render worship to its image. While still alive, they both were hurled into the fiery lake that burns with sulphur.”

Therefore, even using their own revised, 1961 Bible, there must be a “Lake of Fire.” The word (wild)by the way, is not in the Bible..but they added it to their 1961 version.

There are many more verses in their own Bible of 1961 that say there is a Lake of Fire (Hell)…including Revelation 20:10 –

“And the Devil who was misleading them was hurled into the lake of fire and sulphur, where both the (wild) beast and the false prophet [already were]; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever”…proving two things: There is indeed – a Lake of Fire (the lowest level of three levels of hell…which are “Hades”…top level where spirits who have rejected Christ as Savior remain until the Great White Throne Judgment of God takes place after the Millennium) and a second, lower level of hell where the angesl who rebelled against God are chained until the Great White Throne Judgment...and the lowest level - the Lake of Fire.....and - the second think we learn from the JW Bible is God apparently does allow torture or “torment” to happen for eternity - not only to the devil, but to all who reject what His Son, Jesus, did on the cross to pay for their sins.

Jehovah Witness believers also – like our Jewish friends and Muslim friends, believe - that there is no “Trinity”… a ”three-part God”..but that God is one God.

I mentioned that the two missionaries who were chatting it up with me are also a "Triune" being...and are also made in three parts. I told them that they are formed in the likeness of God who said, in the book of Genesis (a Hebrew Book) or the Koran (a Muslim Bible), “Come – let US make man in OUR image” which indicates that God calls Himself more than one entity. If God made man in His image, then man is made of a body..a soul and a spirit. This is true - man is a triune or three-part being.

If that is true, and God allegedly is three parts – making one entity as we are (John Tyler is one entity - a human being), then where is God’s Spirit..His Body..and His Soul? Glad you asked!

1. God says He is a Spirit. I think we all acknowledge that, but let’s see where God actually says those words….Genesis 1:2 – KJV – “And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.”

The NWT omits the word spirit of God and replaces it with a Star Wars entity – “The Force”. It reads, “Now the earth proved to be formless and waste and there was darkness upon the surface of [the] watery deep; and God’s "active force" was moving to and fro over the surface of the waters.”

Genesis 6:3 – KJV – “And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh:”

Their NWT gets that verse right…..” After that Jehovah said: “My spirit shall not act toward man indefinitely in that he is also flesh.”…proving that when they wish their agenda to be fulfilled…then God does speak of Himself being a spirit, but when they want to portray Jehovah as something else, He becomes a "force" in other parts of their 1961 Bible. THey do this to support their belief that God is not made of a spirit, a soul (which is sent to become the conscience of man...also known as mans' soul, and that God is a body...who came to earth in the form of Jesus. This is done to support the single entity theory as opposed to what God said....He is a Trinity.

Speaking of KEY WORDS, let’s travel over to John 1:1 of the 1611 KJV…..This verse should prove beyond any doubt that Jesus…the body portion of the “Trinity” always was. The J.W.s say, “Jesus is not deity - he was merely a creation of God..as was this “force”.

John 1:1…” In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” So, the Bible tells us that in the beginning (of course God always was, so there is no beginning, but man cannot comprehend this thought)..this WORD was….it always was..it (whatever IT is) always was. This “WORD” was not only WITH God…it is God!....

Ah, but let’s see how the Jehovah’s Witness group has changed (deleted or added to) the 1611 KJV. Their 1961 NWT version now reads, “In [the] beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god.” Therefore, the J.W. leadership has determined (because of how John 1:14 reads), that Jesus is a god…but not GOD Himself..- “deity” Oh oh! Adding to or deleting words from the Word of God is a huge, punishable no-no!

This is what God’s Bible tells us: “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

Oh oh again – The actual Bible tells us that the “WORD” that always was..and IS GOD…was made into a body…a third part of that Triune God….and this body that was made flesh happens to be Jesus. To behold this Jesus (the body) as the same glory as that of the Father, God….gives “deity” to Christ…as intended, and it suggests that this Jesus always was…”since the beginning”.

So. How will the JW ‘s 1961 version of this revelation be worded? Surprise! The J.W.s messed up and left the TRUTH right in their own Bible of 1961! Ta-da!

Their 1961 Bible reads, “So the Word became flesh and resided among us, and we had a view of his glory, a glory such as belongs to an only-begotten son from a father; and he was full of undeserved kindness and truth. (John bore witness about him, yes, he actually cried out—this was the one who said [it]—saying: “The one coming behind me has advanced in front of me, because he existed before me.”)

The J.Ws left this intact….unbelievable! Then, they also left the part in verse 15 that bears testimony that Jesus always was….John (the baptizer) – This one in front of me (Jesus) existed before I existed.” John was born six months before Jesus…his cousin! How can Jesus then be…BEFORE John? He always was! Get it?

J.W.s state that Jesus was created by God…you know..in the year zero, and that he died…just like anyone else, and that only His spirit was resurrected, and not his body.

Okay…so let’s go back to their 1961 Bible and read Luke 24:15 thru 31 - shall we? It reads, “But, look! on that very day (the resurrection Sunday) two of them (disciples of Christ) were journeying to a village about seven miles distant from Jerusalem [and] named Em•ma´us, and they were conversing with each other over all these things that had come about.

Now as they were conversing and discussing, Jesus himself approached and began walking with them.”

Question – If Jesus died on the cross….and was not raised bodily….how could He be “walking” with these two disciples? Just asking!

The rest of the story unfolds (in the JW Bible of 1961) that, at first, Jesus caused these two men NOT to recognize Him…but at the end, after He prays with them, He opens their eyes so they can clearly see who it was..the resurrected man..the walking, breathing, eating body of Christ whom they knew.

“But their eyes were kept from recognizing him. He said to them: “What are these matters that YOU are debating between yourselves as YOU walk along?” And they stood still with sad faces. In answer the one named Cle´o•pas said to him: “Are you dwelling as an alien by yourself in Jerusalem and so do not know the things that have occurred in her in these days?” And he said to them: “What things?” They said to him: “The things concerning Jesus the Naz•a•rene´, who became a prophet powerful in work and word before God and all the people; and how our chief priests and rulers handed him over to the sentence of death and impaled him. (killed Him) - But we were hoping that this [man] was the one destined to deliver Israel; yes, and besides all these things, this makes the third day since these things occurred. Moreover, certain women from among us also astonished us, because they had been early to the memorial tomb but did not find his body (this same body that was now walking with these two men!) and they came saying they had also seen a supernatural sight of angels, who said he is alive. Further, some of those with us went off to the memorial tomb; and they found it so, just as the women had said, but they did not see him.”

So he (Jesus) said to them: “Oh senseless ones and slow in heart to believe on all the things the prophets spoke! Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and to enter into his glory?” And commencing at Moses and all the Prophets he interpreted to them things pertaining to himself in all the Scriptures.

Finally they got close to the village where they were journeying, and he made as if he was journeying on farther. But they used pressure upon him, saying: “Stay with us, because it is toward evening and the day has already declined.” With that he went in to stay with them. And as he was reclining with them at the meal he took the loaf, blessed it, (indicating that this body of the resurrected Jesus not only walked and talked – he ate food) broke it and began to hand it to them. At that their eyes were fully opened and they recognized him; and he disappeared from them.”

The two finally realized it was their Lord, Jesus, who walked, talked and ate with them on the third day AFTER his death on the cross. Oh oh! I guess that shoots down another theory that Jesus was not raised bodily from the dead!

My Jehovah Witness missionary friends (we had a very cordial, honest discussion with one another – two against one) spoke about their theology that says, “Jesus was not equal to God and He never said He was…..so if we turn in their 1961 Bible….the New World Translation (of which I now have), we read an astounding passage of Scripture in John 10:30…. “I and the Father are one.” Ooops! I have no idea how that one snuck through. Perhaps they don’t really study their 1961 version against the actual 1611 King James Version?

Not that it matters, but my JW friends believe that Jesus died on a pole…a stake, and not a cross. They get this because someone – in the organization, determined that the Greek word for cross is “stake or tree”. I agree – so I will go with the Greek word for cross meaning “tree” ….A wooden cross was made out of “wood”. Back in the day, they didn’t have lumber yards..they made wooden things out of trees!

In the 1611 KJV version of the Bible, Jesus said, “And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.”
But, my JW friends’ NWT version reads kinda weird…”And whoever does not accept his torture stake and follow after me is not worthy of me.” A “torture stake” I not found anywhere in any Bible…except this one that was manufactured by the Jehovah Witness crew in 1961…..”A torture stake”?

So…dummy that I am, I insisted on going to my Greek Lexicon to get their full interpretation of the word “CROSS” out for myself, and though I’d share it with you folks….and I’ll just let you draw your own conclusions! “an upright stake, esp. a pointed one - a cross a well-known instrument of most cruel and ignominious punishment, borrowed by the Greeks and Romans from the Phoenicians; to it were affixed among the Romans, down to the time of Constantine the Great, the guiltiest criminals, particularly the basest slaves, robbers, the authors and abetters of insurrections, and occasionally in the provinces, at the arbitrary pleasure of the governors, upright and peaceable men also, and even Roman citizens themselves - the crucifixion which Christ underwent.”

That said, I am surprised that my JW friends also use the word “stake” when the Bible even uses the word “tree”…for example, in the 1611 KJV, we read…in Acts 5:30 – “The God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom you murdered by hanging on a tree”.

But the 1961 revised JW version of the Bible tells us that a stake is also a tree! “The God of our forefathers raised up Jesus, whom YOU slew, hanging him upon a stake.”

Galatians 3:13 tells us something from Old Testament Prophecy – “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree.”

So, curious fellow that I am (thanking God for it!), I had to discover where, in the Old Testament, this reference came from. Well, wouldn’t you know that it’s in Deuteronomy 21:23….Let me get it for you…” His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but you shall surely bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that your land be not defiled, which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance.”

This implies that God places a curse on anyone who hangs from a TREE….and God turned His back on His beautiful son the moment He took all the sins – the nasty sins….of every human who ever lived…past – present and future…upon Himself. God cannot look upon sin….which is why, for that moment, He had to turn His back on Jesus. Jesus cried out, “Father…why have you forsaken me?” –

This was the first and only time that Jesus was separated from His heavenly Father…and that was the cup that He spoke of in the Garden of Gethsemane when He said, “If it is at all possible, let THIS CUP” pass from me.” “None-the-less, Father….I know it must happen, and that you must forsake me for a few moments.”

Historians tell about crucifixions in Roman times – “When the victim reached the place of execution, by law, he was given a drink of wine mixed with myrrh (gall). This was intended to be mild narcotic that would deaden the pain. It is significant that Jesus refused this drink. The criminal was then stripped naked, thrown to the ground on his back with his arms outstretched along the crossbeam.

The hands then would either be tied or nailed to the crossbeam, but the sources clearly indicate that nailing was the Romans' preferred method. Then the victim, now nailed to the crossbeam, would be hoisted up so that the crossbeam was attached to the upright beam. Finally the feet were nailed, one on top of the other, to the upright beam with another iron spike. Jutting out from the upright beam was a small block or plank (sedile) which the crucified would straddle, thus absorbing some of the weight of the body.”

I don’t know – just sounds like a crossbeam attached to an upright beam (made of tree wood) was likely a cross, and not a stake in the ground!

Moving right along…..My JW friends insist (because of the wording of Ecclesiastes 9:5,10) that there is no hell, and that humans simply die. We do not have an “immortal soul” that will live forever somewhere in eternity….it “does not survive when the body dies”.

So. Let’s get that verse and see what they are talking about. KJV first – “For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest”

Well, that sure sounds like when we are dead…we are dead!

The problem with interpreting these two well-written verses of wisdom – penned by the wisest man who ever lived – Solomon, is that Solomon was giving us his wisdom. “When you are dead and buried, you can’t do anything anymore here on the earth…so, while you are alive…do everything with all your might.” Sounds like great advice to me!

In the preceding verse…verse 4, Solomon was making a point that anything living..man or beast….it is appointed unto that living thing…a time to die….” For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion.” Solomon was trying to tell us that we always have hope…a chance..more opportunity to get it right…while we are alive….and being alive…whether a man or dog, is better than being a dead man or a live dog (considered to be lowly in the animal kingdom) is better off than a dead lion….king of all beasts.

But, from those verses, my JW friends subscribe to their doctrine that when you die..it’s the grave.

The problem with that doctrine is that their own 1961 Bible concurs with the King James Version of 2 Corinthians 5:8, which reads, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”

Their 1961 NWT version echoes this – “But we are of good courage and are well pleased rather to become absent from the body and to make our home with the Lord.” They concur, in this instance, that to be absent from the body which dies and goes into a grave…we (the living breathing soul within us) goes on to live in heaven with God.” I dunno….maybe I just don’t get the conflicts within their own version of the Bible.

God says, “The SOUL that sins..it shall die.” God means to say that if our soul (we have a body…a spirit that has wisdom, intelligence, knowledge of good and evil…given to us by God..and a SOUL..the conscience, decision making entity within that body and part of the “TRINITY” that we are made up of)…if that soul within us – aka “the flesh” decides to reject His son, Jesus, and what He did on the cross/tree/stake to pay for our sins, it shall die (eternally speaking) and it shall spend eternity in the Lake of Fire – which my JW friends say doesn’t exist.

So, when our body dies…our soul will live on throughout eternity….in heaven with our spirit…..and our new, immortal, incorruptible body that can endure eternity…or it will perish into the Lake of Fire that supposedly does not exist, but science tells us and shows us photos of it! Science also wonders why this Lake of Fire 4000 feet beneath the surface of the cooled earth has no way to burn without oxygen! Hmmmm!
Let’s wrap it up with another of their beliefs garnered from their religion…wherein, “Each person is remembered by God (at some point) and God resurrects them and lets them live in Paradise here on earth. They get that from John 5:28 and 29, so I shall gather the KJV verses first.

If they differ, I will point it out. “Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.”

I guess I’ll see how their 1961 version of the Bible parses this: “Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.”

WOW! They both say essentially the same thing! I’m shocked….another one slips by!

They admit, and I agree, that our souls (and spirits) ALL OF US….come out of the graves (so, I’m guessing that some don’t really stay in the grave waiting for God to pick and choose who He wants to favor by remembering them!)….”and those who did good things will be rewarded (with heaven when the resurrection of their souls and spirits happen)…and all the rest who have done evil things will be resurrected to an eternal punishment.”

Dang, we are in agreement once again! So, where do the “good souls” go…and how do they become chosen? Conversely, where do the “evil souls and spirits” end up?

Revelation 3:5 would answer that. At the Great White Throne Judgment of God….He asks His Son, Jesus…”Is this person’s name found in Your “Book of Life”? If yes, God allows them to continue on into heaven – for eternity. Everyone’s name is IN THE LAMB’S BOOK OF LIFE – from the time we are conceived…to the time we die. Once dead, we cannot come to the Father anymore..kind of what Solomon was telling us..”When you are dead, you can’t do anything – good or bad anymore.”

Jesus told us, in Revelation 3:5, “He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.”

So, whoever “overcomes death”…and the only road to the Father is by way of the cross…to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior because only He can forgive our sins)…THEIR NAMES WILL NOT BE BLOTTED OUT OF THE BOOK OF LIFE. If YOUR name is not found there (and you died…having no more opportunity), your name IS blotted out of the Book of Life. Now what happens?

Lo and behold…first, I have to tell you that the JW version of the Bible clearly agrees with the 1611 KJV version…” He that conquers will thus be arrayed in white outer garments; and I will by no means blot out his name from the book of life, but I will make acknowledgment of his name before my Father and before his angels.”

Okay..”conquers”..conquers what? Death! How is that done…and God always speaks of eternal life or eternal death and damnation…..?

God said, “Let me introduce you to my beloved Son in whom I am well-pleased…..and by the way..LISTEN TO ALL THAT HE TELLS YOU.” – Matthew 17:5…same in the NWT version of the JW 1961 Bible.

What, then, did Jesus tell us that we should listen to? I actually like the 1961 NWT version because it accurately reflects exactly what Jesus told us..whether a Jehovah’s Witness or anyone…..“ Jesus said to him: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If YOU men had known me, YOU would have known my Father also; from this moment on YOU know him and have seen him.”
I guess this also proves that Jesus and God are one in the same? “If you know God..you have just seen Him…Him is ME!”

And, “if you love me, you will keep my commandments”…my instructions….all of them….John 14:15..same thing is said in the revised Bible of 1961!

What are my instructions? How will you get into heaven..or be sent to Hell..the “Lake of Fire”? “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord – shall be saved”. Saved from what and to what?

Saved FROM hell…..the Lake of Fire spoken of in Revelation 20:11- 11-15 – “And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”

So, we must leave you with this idea: My JW friends and I agreed on other areas of the Bible (I mean the Word of God prior to 1961)….”The apostle, Paul – told the worshipers of the church at Thessalonica that they were more noble (wiser) than those who were at the church in Berea because, “They received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”

And, in John 5:39, the Bible tells us, “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.”

So, to get the TRUTH…..one must search “THE SCRIPTURES” for that TRUTH. Let me leave you with this thought:

If a religion is formed in 1875, and its founder develops a theology – based on his belief that Jesus came back to the earth in 1874 (to speak with him, I presume), and then his theology and his writings are tossed out the window in 1916 upon his death….by another guy (who did not have these dreams or words from Jesus that the founder allegedly had)…and a major split is developed….and then “SCRIPTURE” is revised to suit the theology of the new guy (Rutherford) in 1961…..how can you possibly study the SCRIPTURES (which did not exist in present, revised form until 1961) to prove that what the apostles taught is true?

What my JW friends are saying is, “Study the 1961 New World Translation of the actual Bible” in order to know that what the Old Testament and the New Testament writers said is true. It can’t possibly be done!

Words from the 1961 Bible tell YOU “Now the latter were more noble-minded than those in Thes•sa•lo•ni´ca, for they received the word with the greatest eagerness of mind, carefully examining the Scriptures daily as to whether these things were so.”

How can you examine what didn’t exist until 1961 to discover if what was taught in the Old and New Testament Scriptures is so?

Just curious!

“Religions” came and went from the beginning of time.

New “guys” (including Mary Baker Eddy as one of the guys) show up…discover a new “prism” or gadget or revelation shown to them (allegedly) and they form a new “religion” - and some people fall in line and begin to believe what they say, rather than get into the “Scriptures” to examine what they say..then compare those Scriptures penned my man…inspired by God….with what the “new guys” are telling you.

Do this, and I asked my two new Jehovah Witness friends to do it, too: Pray to your “Supreme Being” – yes, the one that you know in your heart exists, and ask, “God….please point me to the truth because I want to believe what YOU say…over what man is teaching me and trying to convince me to believe. This is important to me, God….,my eternal destiny is in your hands, so I am asking you to direct me to the truth.”

I promise you, on the authority of the Bible….that God will point you to the TRUTH….if you honestly seek it.

I left them with this: When you witness Israel doing a preempive strike against Iran....and it will be a devastating blow, and when you witness Israel telling the Arabs to vacate al of Israel, and in particular..Jerusalem and the Holy Mount Zion...and then you witness Israel building their Holy Temple in the place where the Arab-controled "Dome of The Rock" now sits.....you have about 3.5 years left on the planet.

When these events take place (my guess is between now and 2013 when the strike happens, and 2017 when the Holy Temple is finished, Jesus Himself told us all to "Look up for your redemption draws near....and you wil see the Son of Man coming in the clouds". This is when the rapture of the saints happens. RIght after that event, all hell breaks loose on the earth. YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE HERE WHEN THIS HAPPENS.

Instead, seek out the Lord, Jesus Christ NOW - while He may be found.
