We have seen how moral failure weakens our witness to the world. It also has the capacity to destroy our credibility among Christians as well. This is what Satan intends to achieve in the Church. He knows that when a leader in the Church falls, it is not only a disaster for the leader, it spells destruction for the members. He uses the principle in Matthew 26:31: “Strike the Shepherd and the sheep will scatter.” to his advantage. People will only allow us to lead them as long as they trust us. Once our integrity is questionable because of sin, we lose the right to influence them.
You may not be a Pastor. You may not sing in the Choir. You may not be teacher. You may look like the least of believers but you have someone who looks up to you. You may not know them but you inspire them. Before you take another peek at that pornographic magazine, think about them. Before you tell a lie to get that job, think about them. Don’t buy the lie that your secret escapades will remain a secret.
If David could be found out, you will be found out. Then you will be another reason a young believer falls from the faith. You will be another excuse an immature Christian gives for continues indulging in premarital sex. You don’t want that. You can be another reason a woman will not trade her body for a job. You can be another reason a struggling student will not relinquish his vote for money. You are destined to inspire generations of believers now and after you are gone. You can do it. Yes you can.
