Hebrews Part 11
1 of 2
We are continuing along here in Hebrews Chapter 11. Remember Hebrews written to those people of Israel who went over the Jordan River, those that were scattered. Let’s take a quick trip over here:
Jeremiah 30:1 “The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,”
Jeremiah 30:2 “Thus speaketh the LORD God of Israel, saying, ‘Write thee all the words that I have spoken unto thee in a book.”
Jeremiah 30:3 “For, lo, the days come, saith the LORD that I will bring again the captivity of My people Israel and Judah, saith the LORD: and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.’”
These are the nations that scattered all over the world today. Both the house of Israel, as well as the house of Judah, live separately. When the Lord returns on the Lord’s Day, or when Jesus’s feet, stand at the Mount of Olives:
Zechariah 14:1 "Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.”
Zechariah 14:2 “For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the People shall not be cut off from the city.”
Zechariah 14:3 “Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when He fought in the day of battle.”
Zechariah 14:4 “And His feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.”
The subject here is the Lord’s Day that will happen after II Thessalonians 2:3-4 happens and Satan, the son of perdition, sits in God’s throne in Jerusalem at the temple of God claiming to be God. Then the world in that total state of apostasy, going against their religious beliefs like Christians worshipping the Lord’s enemy, Satan. That must happen first, then , Jesus comes. We don’t “fly away” or get “raptured” anywhere. Rather the Lord comes here to this earth setting up His permanent kingdom. That’s why here in Zechariah 14:2 the place we are talking about, or where we should be watching for is Jerusalem, as that is where the Lord will take His throne. Satan then having the nations, meaning this entire world, under his one world political system in which the financial system he controls as in Revelation 13:15-17, according to God’s Word. That’s why we have to have our ducks in a row. Knowing the chain of events which must take place first. Not a world physical war, but rather a spiritual war. Why then in Zechariah 14:2 the city meaning Jerusalem, which then will be Satan’s headquarters on this earth, remember while we are still in the flesh as we don’t change to the celestial bodies until I Corinthians 15:52, as flesh and blood cannot get into heaven as in I Corinthians:
I Corinthians 15:40 “There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.”
I Corinthians 15:50 “Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.”
I Corinthians 15:51 “Behold, I shew a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,”
I Corinthians 15:52 “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”
Then the women, used here symbolically, as in Zechariah 14:2 as we are to remain that virgin Bride, for God’s election or those with free will as well as the virgin Wife, those already judged or God’s election as in Revelation 19:7-8. The people then, the majority of this earth, this final generation will be deceived by Satan, ravished or spiritually seduced by his lies and his deception. Satan, just like he wholly seduced Eve, way back at the beginning of the foundation of this world age here:
II Corinthians 11:3 “But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.”
II Corinthians 11:13 “For such are false prophets, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.”
II Corinthians 11:14 “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.”
II Corinthians 11:15 “Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.”
transformed (Strong’s 3345) to transfigure or disguise; figuratively to apply (by accommodation); (from Strong’s 3326) accompaniment, amid, proximity, and from (derivative of Strong’s 4976) a figure, condition, external condition.
beguiled (Strong’s 1818) to seduce wholly; (from Strong’s 1537) from, out, (from Strong’s 538)to cheat, i.e. delude, deceive.
subtilty (Strong’s 3834) adroitness, trickery or sophistry (cunning, craftiness).
Right here we are warned that just like Eve was wholly seduced, not only physically as a child, Cain, was produced, the serpent’s seed, or offspring, as in Genesis 3:15, but the Word of God was what Satan used to deceive Eve. Twisting what the LORD God had commanded Adam and Eve in Genesis 2. Then it’s no surprise, that way back here, when the Lord gave II Corinthians 11 to Paul and this was written. But you think that’s not going on today? Look out there, as it is very rare and you are blessed if you find a church or place where they actually teach you the Bible or the Word of God, chapter by chapter and verse by verse, following the subject and object. The point is that is how Satan works, his cunning and deception, through the churches, through the religions and places of worship, twisting what God’s Word has told us before. The reason, it’s no mystery or marvel that Satan, himself, will come as an angel of light, sitting in God’s seat and claiming to be God! Moving back to Hebrews now, the book again written to those people spread abroad. Remember we just read the house of Judah and Israel both live separately today. We easily can point to the Jews, or the house of Judah, in the nation Israel today, as well as spread over the nations, and the house of Israel, those northern tribes that went into captivity first. Then many to Europe, the Americas and all over this world. The point is they had the Word of God and why in Hebrews so many referrals back to the Word. Remember though, that the Word of God is now open to anyone, as here:
Acts 9:1 “And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest.”
Acts 9:2 “And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.”
Acts 9:3 “As he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:”
Acts 9:4 “And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, “Saul, Saul, why persecutes thou Me?”
Acts 9:5 “And he said, “Who art Thou, Lord?” And the Lord said, “I am Jesus Whom thou persecutes: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.”
Acts 9:6 “And he trembling and astonished said, “Lord, what wilt Thou have me to do?” And the Lord said unto him, “Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.”
pricks (Strong’s 2759) (to prick) a point (centre), i.e. a sting (figuratively poison) or goad (figuratively divine impulse); sting.
Here Saul, who God then changed his name to Paul, meaning small, was on his way because he was totally committed to the LORD God and thought he was doing the right thing. He had letters from the religious government to imprison these new Christians in Damascus, Syria. Then the Lord Jesus, Himself! If some church or some traditions of men ever teach against the Word of God or His servant Paul, the Lord is selecting Paul for HE knew beforehand that HE could trust him. For Paul withstood against Satan, fighting with God against Satan in the first earth age, just as all of God’s election did. That way the Lord here is saying why are you kicking against the pricks, meaning two things. First that you are like animal that is pricked or goaded along when doing farm work as back here, Paul then going against the Lord. Even more deeply a prick is like a compass point on God’s compass, or the plan of God. Then Saul, again who then renamed by the Lord, Paul, let’s have compassion and see where he was coming from. Really thought he was doing a good thing, going against these believers in the Lord Jesus as his eyes were blinded spiritually. Then what happens?
Acts 9:11 “And the Lord said unto him, “Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth,”
Acts 9:12 “And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight.”
Acts 9:13 “Then Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to Thy saints at Jerusalem:”
Acts 9:14 “And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on Thy name.”
Acts 9:15 “But the Lord said unto him, “Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto Me, to bear My name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:”
Acts 9:16 “For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for My name’s sake.”
Gentiles (Strong’s 1484) a race (as of the same habit), i.e. a tribe; specific a foreign (non-Jewish) one (usually by implication pagan); Gentile, heathen, nation, people.
The street is called Straight, just like we all are when we get to that point when we go to Him finally. Not listening to men’s traditions or religion, or church doctrines, what people say, but rather hear the Word of God. We then are somebody that the Lord can use and somebody He can trust. Then the Lord giving Ananias and Paul the same vision, that Paul’s physical blindness was healed, as well as his spiritual eyes. Then the message, and why we came here, Paul then, again that chosen vessel of the Lord, would bring His Word to three groups of people. To the kings, so the men and women of the nations not born of the people of Israel, as well as the Gentiles, or the other nations, and then to God’s election, those that are already judged or their names written in the book of life as in Luke 10:18-20. Jesus telling His election don’t rejoice because you have power over all your enemies when you do it in My name, but the fact that your names are written in heaven:
Luke 10:17 “And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, “Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through Thy name.”
Luke 10:18 “And He said unto them, “I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.”
Luke 10:19 “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
Luke 10:20 “Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.”
The Word of God then opened up to all peoples, all groups, all people of all languages, because the Lord loves us:
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Again the book of Hebrews written to those spread abroad as well as to anyone that believes and loves Him and His Word. Let’s get into this now:
Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
Hebrews 11:2 “For by it the elders obtained a good report.”
Hebrews 11:3 “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, made of things which do appear.”
substance (Strong’s 5287) a setting under (support), i.e. essence, or assurance, confidence.
evidence (Strong’s 1650) proof, conviction; evidence, reproof; (from Strong’s 1651) to confute, admonish.
worlds (Strong’s 165) properly an age; by extension perpetuity (also past); by implication the world; specifically (Jewish) A Messianic period (present or future).
Our faith is the substance meaning the confidence and the evidence of what we have not seen. Faith is a gift of God that is our witness. As here:
Ephesians 2:8 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:”
Ephesians 2:9 “Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
God’s mercy or His grace is a gift as well as the fact that we know His Word of God is truth. That is our faith and that is one of the many gifts that He blesses us with. For example, when someone passes away and we want to comfort a friend, our faith in His Word can direct them right here in His Word:
Ecclesiastes 12:6 “Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern.”
Ecclesiastes 12:7 “Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God Who gave it.”
Ecclesiastes the book about how to get along the physical. When our body wears out and our time is come to go to Heavenly Father, the spirit goes instantly to God Who gave it to us. As we just saw in I Corinthians 15:40 we have both the celestial and terrestrial, or angelic and physical bodies, we need to then put on the angelic body to get to the LORD God for judgment as His throne is not here on earth today. Not until Jesus’s throne comes to this earth, again, after Satan sits in His seat and deceives this entire world. Then it is the mercy of dear God, His love for us that we cannot say we have all this faith, it’s His blessing and His gift to use that in our lives for His witness. Again, His grace and His mercy not a free thing for Jesus paid with His life, and He did this willingly for each soul to come to Heavenly Father willingly. Then moving along:
Hebrews 11:4 “By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.”
This was through Abel’s faith in the LORD God, as he did not have the law of His Word yet. As here:
Genesis 4:1 “And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, “I have gotten a man from the LORD.”
Genesis 4:2 “And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of the sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
Genesis 4:3 “And in the process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.”
Genesis 4:4 “And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering.”
Genesis 4:5 “But unto Cain and to his offering He had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.”
Genesis 4:6 “And the LORD said unto Cain, “Why art thou wroth? And why is thy countenance fallen?”
Genesis 4:7 “If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? And if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.”
Genesis 4:8 “And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.”
Here then Eve having both Cain and Abel, as remember the serpent’s seed, meaning Satan’s son, as in Genesis 3:15 as well as Satan’s role of the serpent as in Revelation 12:9 and 20:2. Eve then had two twins, fraternal, and then Cain was the tiller of the ground and Abel kept the sheep. Abel then through his faith offered his very best to the LORD God, the firstfruits of his flock, so the very best offering he could to God. Then the LORD had respect to what Abel offered as Abel offered his very best. The most valuable thing he could offer! Then Cain, we see here his father, Satan, in him as he is accusing Abel. And was wroth or very angry because the LORD respected Abel’s offering, as the LORD did not respect Cain’s offering. He must not have given his very best, for the LORD did not respect his offering. Then the LORD warning Cain what to do so he wouldn’t sin, by not listening to Him. Then Cain’s countenance or his physical appearance change, Satan’s evil spirit, entering him, then murdering Abel. Remember as in Genesis 3:15 Satan’s attempt was to destroy that Seed, Jesus, Who did come through Eve’s and Adam’s family, then here another attempt by trying to destroy Jesus. Through Abel which HE would have come, but then the LORD used Seth as in Luke 3:38 to bring forth Jesus. The point of Hebrews 11:4 is that through his faith Abel’s righteous action of his sacrifice to God, without being commanded His Word of God, as this was before that time, his action was justified. Moving on here:
Hebrews 11:5 “By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.”
translated (Strong’s 3331) transposition, i.e. transferal (to heaven), disestablishment (of a law); change, removing, translation; (from Strong’s 3346) to transfer, to transport, exchange, change sides, or carry over, change, remove.
Enoch then through which Jesus would come through his family, as in Luke 3:37, through Adam and Eve then down to Mary. God then translated, meaning put him in the celestial, or the spiritual body, from his flesh body because of his testimony. That is why God did this. Let’s go back here to find this:
Genesis 5:21 “And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah:”
Genesis 5:22 “And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:”
Genesis 5:23 “And all the day of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:”
Genesis 5:24 “And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.”
walked (Strong’s 1980) to walk, be conversant or be familiar with or study; (akin to Strong’s 3212) to walk, grow, march, lead (forth), spread.
Enoch then walked with God, meaning Enoch knew God’s Word as he listened to what God said. And we will see why here in moment why God took him, and translated, meaning to put into the spiritual body, as here:
Jude :14 “And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, “Behold, the LORD cometh with ten thousand of His saints,”
Jude :15 “To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.”
Jude :16 “These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men’s persons in admiration because of advantage.”
Enoch was warning the people. For the fallen angels were coming down to this earth, Satan’s other attempt to try and destroy that Seed, Jesus, Who would and did come for Satan does not want God’s Word to happen! He does not want to be blotted out as in Revelation 20:10 and in Ezekiel 28:18-19. Then as here these fallen angels instead of being born innocent in the flesh like we are to be born and then decide if we love God or Satan. They disobeyed God as here:
Genesis 6:1 “And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,”
Genesis 6:2 “That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.”
Genesis 6:3 “And the LORD said, “My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.”
Genesis 6:4 “There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.”
men (Strong’s 120) ruddy, i.e. a human being (an individual or the species, mankind, etc.); (from Strong’s 119) to show blood (in the face), i.e. flush or turn rosy, be (dyed, made) red (ruddy).
giants (Strong’s 5303) properly a feller, i.e. a bully or tyrant; giant.
mighty (Strong’s 1368) powerful; by implication warrior, tyrant champion, giant; (same as Strong’s 1397) properly a valiant man or warrior; a person, mighty; (from Strong’s 1396) to be strong; by implication to prevail, act insolently or disrespectful, be stronger or valiant.
old (Strong’s 5769) concealed, i.e. the vanishing point; time out of mind (past or future), i.e. practically eternity; always; (from Strong’s 5956) to veil from sight, i.e. conceal, blind, secret thing.
renown (Strong’s 8034) an appellation or name by a specific geographical location, as a mark or memorial of individuality; honor, authority, character, famous name, renown; (perhaps from Strong’s 7760 through idea of definite and conspicuous position) to put, place, tread down.
Satan knowing that through Adam and Eve’s family, so then through the sons of Adam, or those that showed blood in face or ruddy skinned, the sons of God, so then the fallen angels took them as wives. What happened is they brought with them from heaven information about the first earth age and disrupting God’s plan of having each soul be born innocent in the flesh, producing these famous giants and warriors. Then that’s why the flood during Noah’s time, the point is that Enoch was warning the people against this as they were going against God. Moving along here:
Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.”
When we diligently seek His Word of God out, meaning we go to the Bible, and crack that open, we are making an effort and trying to understand what HE has told us ahead of time, not people or church doctrines and religion.
We have to have that first faith in the fact that God is real and His Word is truth and will reward us, both the good and the bad what we bring onto our lives. Remember repent and be sincere and real with Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus and try and sin no more. Those sins then blotted out, the Lord merciful giving us all another chance to try again. Not saying this is a license to sin knowing His mercy, but not having a guilt trip that because of sin or our failures we cannot make it and be successful according to His Word. Let’s also go here:
Isaiah 43:25 “I, even I, am He That blotted out thy transgressions for Mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.”
Isaiah 43:26 “Put Me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.”
Our sins are blotted out, out of existence, because of His sake, because Heavenly Father loves us. Then HE goes on here to say that let us plead together, meaning go to My Word of God, and find that verse or place in the Word of God of His promises. Guess what? We need to know His Word. Just like Enoch, we need to walk with Him, daily, in His Word. Everyone has different needs, so don’t think you have to be a preacher, just let His Word fill your mind so then He can lead you. Let’s move along:
Hebrews 11:7 “By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.”
Noah then prepared that ark as God commanded him to, as the LORD God destroyed those that had mixed with the daughters of Adam, bringing that knowledge from heaven. Then through Noah and his family, as they did not mix their bloodline, as remember that woman’s, or Eve’s Seed, Jesus, Who did come as in Genesis 3:15:
Genesis 6:9 “THESE are THE GENERATIONS OF NOAH: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.”
perfect (Strong’s 8549) entire; integrity, truth; without blemish, complete, full, perfect, without spot, undefiled, upright, whole.
Noah’s bloodline then perfect or without blemish. Why? Because Noah walked with God hearing His Word and listening to Him, not like the majority of the world that time. That his ancestor, Enoch, was teaching the people not to do and why the Lord loved him and translated him. Then let’s go here:
II Peter 2:5 “And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;”
Noah, also a preacher of righteousness, not teaching what he thought was right. But warning the people not to do this and what happened as the LORD God had foretold Noah, the flood came over the world, wiping out Satan’s deceiving plan to bring those fallen angels who were trying to destroy the family line of Jesus Christ. Let’s go also here:
Jude :6 “And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, He hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.”
habitation (Strong’s 3613) a residence; house (from derivative of Strong’s 3611) to occupy a house, inhabit.
They did not stay in heaven, or kept not their first estate, where they lived, as they were still in the spiritual, or the celestial body, as in I Corinthians 15:40, disobeying God. Not being born in the flesh innocent like we all have to when going through this flesh age. Moving along:
Hebrews 11:8 “By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.”
Hebrews 11:9 “By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise.”
By his faith, Abram which the LORD changed later to Abram, meaning high father, then the LORD changing his name to Abraham, the father of many nations, he would receive God’s blessing. Abraham knew God and walked with Him, listening to what HE said. As here not listening to his family, his parents, and then going away from where he lived to a new place. The strange, or foreign, country that God would then bless his future generations, giving Abraham’s sons, Issac and Jacob, his heirs the same promise. That is His Word of God. Again, this family of Adam and Eve’s Jesus then did come, then all that love His Word and believe on Him, not just the peoples of Israel, as we read in John 3:16. Let’s there:
Genesis 12:1 “Now the LORD had said unto Abram, “Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:”
Genesis 12:2 “And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing.”
Genesis 12:3 “And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed.”
The LORD then took and lead Abraham and his family, his wife and those with him. The LORD promises Abraham anyone going against God’s work through him here they would bring this curse on themselves. Then all the families of the earth are blessed, all peoples, nationalities, and ethnic groups, as the Lord, that woman’s Seed, Jesus, did come through Abraham’s family. Moving along here:
Hebrews 11:10 “For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.”
The Word of God is our foundation. Not some religion or church, but the truth of what HE has already told us. As here Abram then was obeying the LORD and serving Him. Moving along:
Hebrews 11:11 “Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered a child when she was past age, because she judged Him faithful Who had promised.”
Hebrews 11:12 “Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.”
Let's go here now:
Genesis 19:15 “And God said unto Abraham, “As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarah, but Sarah shall her name be.”
Genesis 19:16 “And I will bless here, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her.”
Genesis 19:17 “Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, “Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old, bear?”
The LORD changing her name from Sarai, meaning princess to Sarah meaning queen. That again through she and Abraham’s family, their son Isaac, would come Jesus, the woman’s Seed, Jesus, also in Luke 3:34. Many future generations, like King David and King Solomon both from Abraham and Sarah’s bloodline, then most importantly:
Revelation 19:16 “And He hath on His vesture and on His thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
Jesus Christ, the woman’s Seed, or Eve’s Child, Jesus, Who did come through this family. Then Abraham laughed in his own mind, questioning God as remember he was a hundred years old. Then this promise fulfilled here:
Genesis 21:1 “And the LORD visited Sarah as He had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as He had spoken.”
Genesis 21:2 “For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.”
Genesis 21:3 “And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac.”
Isaac then meaning laughter and through his family did come Jesus as we just read in Luke 3,. Moving along:
Hebrews 11:13 “These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.”
strangers (Strong’s 3581) foreign, alien, a guest, host, stranger.
pilgrims (Strong’s 3927) an alien alongside, i.e. a resident foreigner.
All these people in the Word of God they all had lots of faith, not received the law of Moses, as remember this was before he was born. So the subject here we are learning that through our faith in the LORD, hearing His Word, we can be successful as they were. They were strangers, meaning guests to this flesh world or foreigners as well as pilgrims, living here but our permanent home is elsewhere in heaven with the Lord. This Hebrews 11:13 is quoting from here:
Psalms 39:1 “(A Psalm of David.) I said, “I will take heed to my ways, That I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, While the wicked is before me.”
Psalms 39:2 “I was dumb with silence, I held my pace, even from good; And my sorrow was stirred.”
Psalms 39:12 “Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear unto my cry; Hold not Thy peace at my tears: For I am a stranger with Thee, And a sojourner, as all my fathers were.”
Just like these people or David’s ancestors that came before him, and all of us as well that believe in His Word, we are strangers here in the flesh. Meaning this is not where we will end up, but a place we have to live through, being an example or witness for the Lord for then HE can live in us. Shining His truth and His Word through us that believe in His Word. Also here:
I Chronicles 29:15 “For we are strangers before Thee, and sojourners, as were all our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is none abiding.”
Again just like their fathers, meaning ancestors or forefathers, our flesh lives are just a shadow of better thing, that kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ which will come. But we need to get through this flesh age first, hearing God’s Word so we are not deceived by Satan. Also let’s go here same words, strangers and pilgrims:
1 Peter 2:11 “Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;”
Our flesh is at war with our soul, so the Word is what sustains us or gets us to Him, our promised land. Again, today for all peoples, both Israel and the Gentiles, or other nations, that love Him and hear His Word, walking with Him. Moving along:
Hebrews 11:14 “For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.”
declare plainly (Strong’s 1718) to exhibit (in person) or disclose (by words); (from Strong’s 1717) apparent in self, manifest, openly.
The subject then those people, like Abraham, Sara, Enoch, Abel, those before the law of Moses was given, they showed the thing of their faith to God. By their actions. Again, faith is not just saying “I am saved” or “I believe” but by what we do. As Abraham left his place with his family that was established, moving out into an unknown land, for Abraham trusted and loved the LORD God serving Him, not men. Not to say that we are not to honour or disrespect our families, or our parents, but when it comes to our eternal souls we must hear what the Word of God says, not men’s traditions of church doctrine and religion. Also here in Hebrews 9:24, this same word for “declare plainly” meaning to be apparent or manifest, is used here for “appear”:
Hebrews 9:24 “For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us;”
appear (Strong’s 1718) to exhibit (in person) or disclose (by words); (from Strong’s 1717) apparent in self, manifest, openly.
Jesus then became that eternal Temple, not some church building or church. Then appearing in the flesh as God for us, or Emmanuel, God with us, The Word of God taking on the Son of Man’s flesh, as here as The LORD God told us before:
Matthew 1:23 “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a Son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”
Through then the virgin Mary, as she came from both the people of Israel as in Luke Chapter 3, through Adam and Eve’s family:
Isaiah 7:14 “Therefore the LORD Himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”
Immanuel (Strong’s 6005) with us (is) God; (from Strong’s 6006) to load, i.e. impose a burden, be borne, (heavy) burden, lade, load, put; and (from Strong’s 3050) Jah, the sacred name: the Lord, most vehement.
Just like we can count on. God’s Word became truth and Jesus did come in the flesh as Son of Man. Never having any of us live in the flesh, or asking us something that HE wouldn’t do. HE then showed us the way and how to overcome through His Word. Moving along:
Hebrews 11:15 “And truly if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.”
Hebrews 11:16 “But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for He hath prepared for them a city.”
They put behind their past lives, just like all of us that believe in Him, in His Word, then putting our flesh lives behind us, looking forward to Him and His eternity. Not so focused on this world, the age only, that will soon end at Jesus’s return. That city let’s go here God married this permanent location, Jerusalem:
Ezekiel 16:2 “Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations,”
Ezekiel 16:3 “And say, ‘Thus saith the Lord GOD unto Jerusalem; ‘Thy birth and thy nativity is of the land of Canaan; thy father was an Amorite, ad thy mother an Hittite.”
Ezekiel 16:4 “And as for thy nativity, in the day thou wast born thy navel was not cut, neither wast thou washed in water to supple thee; thou wast not salted at all, nor swaddled at all.”
Ezekiel 16:8 “Now when I passed by thee, and looked upon thee, behold, thy time was the time of love; and I spread My skirt over thee, and covered thy nakedness: yea, I sware unto thee, and entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Lord GOD, and thou becamest Mine.”
The Lord GOD marrying this place, spiritually, His permanent kingdom on this earth. This city born a very unclean birth out of these nations that fought against The LORD. Then here and this is after the Lord’s Day, or the thousand years, as in II Peter 3:8, one day with the Lord is as one thousand. But then the eternity when the LORD God as well as the Lamb of God, Jesus, heaven will dwell on this earth:
Revelation 21:10 “And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,”
Revelation 21:22 “And I saw no Temple therein: for the LORD God Almighty and the Lamb are the Temple of it.”
The Mount of Olives at Jerusalem. The Temple both LORD God Almighty and the Lamb are the Temple. Not anything made of this earth, no church building, or religion, or church organization. But the Living Word of God as THEY are the Temple of it. Moving along:
Hebrews 11:17 “By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that received the promises offered up his only begotten son,”
begotten (Strong’s 3439) only-born, i.e.. sole, only (begotten, child); and (from Strong’s 3441) remaining, i.e. sole or single (from Strong’s 1096) to generate, or become or come into being;
Just like the LORD told Abraham that HE would provide an heir for Him, then as we read in Genesis 21:1 HE visited Sarah providing His promise. That child then through Isaac did Jesus come. Here Abraham by his faith in the LORD when Isaac questioned his father here Abraham knew the LORD would provide:
Genesis 22:8 “And Abraham said, “My son, God will provide Himself a lamb for a burnt offering:’ so they went both of them together.”
Genesis 22:9 “And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.”
Genesis 22:10 “And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.”
Genesis 22:11 “And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, “Abraham, Abraham;” and he said, “Here am I.”
Genesis 22:12 “And He said, “Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from Me.”
Genesis 22:13 “And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.”
Genesis 22:14 “And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day, “In the mount of the LORD shall be seen.”
The location meaning Jehovah will provide. That location the Mount of Olives, the same place where Jesus, Who is The Word of God:
Revelation 19:13 “And He was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and His name is called The Word of God.”
The Word of God did promise and then provided Jesus Christ Who did come:
Luke 1:30 “And the angel said unto her, “Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.”
Luke 1:31 “And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth as Son, and shalt call His name JESUS.”
Luke 1:32 “He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the LORD God shall give unto Him the throne of His father David:”
Luke 1:33 “And He shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of His kingdom there shall be no end.”
Luke 1:34 “Then said Mary unto the angel, “How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?”
Luke 1:35 “And the angel answered and said unto here, “The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy Thing Which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.”
Abraham obeyed the LORD building the altar. Then Jesus did come through Mary, who was the descendant of Abraham and Issac, so through her Seed, remember in Genesis 3:15, the woman’s, or Eve’s, Seed, Jesus, Who would come and did come! The LORD God came upon Mary, a virgin, never been with a man, and through her seed all nations and all peoples would then have the opportunity to live eternally. His kingdom is without end, for the Lord is eternal and so is His Word that is His Name! So open up the Word, and just try and find out what the Lord has already promised to us that believe on Him. Then the power of the Highest, THE MOST HIGH GOD, overshadowed Mary, just like remember with Sarah, her ancestor, bringing that begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Then moving along:
Hebrews 11:18 “Of whom it was said, “That “in Isaac shall thy seed be called:”
Remember in Hebrews 11:17 that through Abraham’s faith, knowing that the LORD would provide that Sacrifice to come, Jesus. Then his seed, or his people that came in the family of Jesus Christ by their genealogy quoting from here:
Genesis 21:12 “And God said unto Abraham, “Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.”
Abraham a righteous man, remembering his other son, the son that through people’s ideas, that of Sarah’s giving Abraham here husband Hagar, her servant, for a wife so Abraham would have an heir. But God’s Word will always be true or happen as HE has written it. Abraham remembering his other son and his future generations, because when everyone, all nations, and all peoples, including the people of Israel would be blessed. Not one of us as human beings will ever make it in the flesh or get our own eternal life, but only through the Word of God and our faith in the Lord. Then moving on:
Hebrews 11:19 “Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.”
Remember we are to learn by example from the Word of God or the better One, Jesus, Who would and did come as here:
I Corinthians 10:11 “Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.”
God then did raise up Isaac in the fact that through his seed, or future generations, as in Luke 3:34, did Jesus come as here:
Luke 3:23 “And Jesus Himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the Son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,”
Luke 3:34 “Which was the son of Jacob, which was the son of Isaac, which was the son of Abraham, which was the son of Thara, which was the son of Nachor.”
Luke 3:37 “Which was the son of Mathusala, which was the son of Enoch, which was the son of Jared, which was the son of Maleleel, which was the son of Cainan.”
Luke 3:38 “Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.”
We then see His geneology, on Mary’s mother’s side, or the Levites, that through Adam, Seth, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Issac and Jacob, that through this seedline, or geneaology we have been studying here in Hebrews 11 did all peoples, and all nations have the opportunity to have salvation. Before that we had the promise of good, through these forefathers faith as we are learning by listening to and obeying God they overcame, and bringing their future generations to be able to overcome as in John 3:16, whosoever believes in His Word. Let’s go here:
Revelation 7:9 “After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;”
Revelation 7:14 “And I said unto him, “Sir, thou knowest.” And he said to me, “These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.”
Revelation 7:15 “Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His Temple: And He That sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.”
As here those that overcome many, not just the peoples of Israel as in Revelation 7:4-8, a number from each tribe of Israel overcame, as well as that number so man could count. From all nations and peoples stood before the throne of GOD. What did they do? But they came out of great tribulation, in which we are living today. That final generation of the fig tree as in Mark 13:28, that we need to get through this part, to get there, not worshipping Satan when he comes before Jesus as in II Thessalonians 2:3-4. The point is that Jesus opened up the door to anyone that believes in His Word and loves Him. I love you and HE loves you for trying! Keep it on trying! Even a few moments each day with Him are good times, praying with Heavenly Father in Jesus’s Name so your eyes are opened up to His Word as the Lord showed us with Paul. Keep it up!
