THE REWARD THAT AWAITS THE FAITHFUL
By Henry Jaegers
"And those who have insight will shine brightly like the brightness of the expanse of heaven, and those who lead the many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever." (Daniel 12:3)
The verse before us may require further elaboration. It is a verse filled with soul searching requirement. First it describes those who have insight. Perhaps the word wisdom may best explain what insight means. Insight does not come through flippant acquiring of information that has no spiritual effect on anyone. It is possible to spend our lives acquiring knowledge that builds up ourselves and ends with us. We may be known as people with great knowledge and understanding but that does not refer to the insight we are talking about here. Spiritual insight requires quality years of diligent studying and knowing God personally. It involves nurturing and sharing the blessings that we receive with others. Understanding God, who He is, how He works, and why He does certain things requires discipline, diligent heart searching, and a goal toward becoming Godlike..
For pastors and teachers, it is more than acquiring sermon outlines and messages from others. It involves meditation on the word of God, and understanding the message he wants for me to learn. Preaching the good news is merely the overflow of the blessing that I personally have received from him. It is the work of the Holy Spirit within those who have insight that affects those who listen. What it says is that they will shine brightly. It means that the glory within will be manifest to all.
The second great truth for us in this verse is that the message is intended to lead others to righteousness. It is our responsibility to lead others to experience the righteousness and blessing that we possess.
