The question was simple; the answer was huge. Olympic Gold Medalist Gabby Douglas was asked if winning an Olympic Gold medal was everything she thought it was. The 16 year old Douglas answered in part by giving God all the credit for her success. Douglas loomed large on the Gymnastic floor in London, but gave her best performance by honoring God for her achievement.
This is Douglas’s latest Gold Medal in back to back Olympics. Again she credits God with blessing her with her gymnastic ability. It is refreshing to hear an Athlete like Gabby Douglas pay homage to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Another Gold medal for Douglas is a huge personal achievement, but her faith in God will earn her bigger honor; a place in heaven. As Christians the comment from Douglass gives all of us renewed hope that the word of God is alive and well in our children.
Gabby will receive many accolades for her crowning successes on the gym floor, but her greatest reward will come from the lives she will touch by displaying her faith in God on the world stage.Douglas will is and will be a positive role model for those kids wishing to follow her gymnastic talent.
However, her biggest impact will be in helping to lead those same kids to a place in the arms of Christ. Douglas, along with athletes like Tim Tebow and Jeremy Lin are making the public display of Christianity popular among our youth. With the help of Christian athletes like Douglas the teachings of Christ will not die.
Douglas had great success on the uneven bars, but when it comes to leveling her faith she has already won another Gold medal presented by God himself. Young people like Gabby Douglas reminds all of us that our kids are not only our future but our hope.
As for her gymnastic career she will continue to dominate on the balance beam but her best event will be in spreading the word of God through her words and her actions. We will continue to watch Gabby and all of our Olympic athletes this summer excel in their sport.
We will also listen intently to the words of each athlete to see if they can match the Gold medal performance like that of two time Olympic champion Gabby Douglas. There may be world records broken in these Olympics, but there will be none bigger than the words of a 16 year old champion from Virginia Beach, Virginia Gabby Douglas.
