Hebrews 11 verse 16 tells us that God is not ashamed to be called (surnamed) the God of Abraham, Issac or Jacob. It seems consistent to say also that God is not ashamed to be called the God of your name or mine. In fact I envision Him at the scenes of our worst failures saying as much. Those on the scene exclaim,"What?! You're his God!? He's a screw-up. He failed us big time. And God answers, "He failed you but I have not failed him, ever. "We gave him the axe long ago." "You gave him the axe as you say, but I am still pruning him and will never forsake him." "He is a lost cause as far as we are concerned." "You have forgotten him, but for Me" says God, " I can never forget him or give up on him. For you he is history but for me he is the future, a work in progress. Neither will my Son ever be ashamed to call him one of his brothers, in fact he seems proud that they will soon rule and reign over this earth together!
