The soul of man, his greatest trouble
The soul itself, problematic
In dreams and desires, setting forth to conquer
Always hungry, never satisfied
Severely limited, thoroughly corrupted
Proud, arrogant and boastful
Ever sinful, always justified
A great city, so grand and tall
To itself, no equal
Conquest of conquests
To topple one’s self
The grandest of all
Tis humility the victor
Know humility, no self
The self must go
Know Christ, no self
This source of victory !
